“Interesting and Informative.”
Reviewed May 3, 2014

If you were ever interested in the history of Opium, this is definitely a place you should visit. It is quite informative and has a lot of interesting artifacts. There is also a souvenir shop that you can purchase a lot of cool items from, including jewelry box type items that resemble an Opium pillow.

Worth a visit if you're in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to travel here.

“Interesting; worth a visit”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

An interesting collection of memorabilia to do with the opium ("gold") trade, from where the region got its name. There are exhibits showing how opium is farmed and traded, and the various tools of the trade, from scales and pipes, to mock dens etc. All a bit of a wake-up call!
The museum is really looking a bit "tired", with exhibits dusty and falling into disrepair. Also not laid out very well. Could do with a re-organisation and some TLC!

“Want to learn about the opium trade? Visit this place!”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

I never really thought about the opium trade, but visiting this museum was a real eye opener! Everything you want to know about what took place - especially in this area - in the opium trade, is on display. Very impressive collection of weights and scales and enough esplanation to understand what life for an opium trader must have been like.
When paying a visit to the Golden Triangle, it would be a shame to miss this museum and learn about what gave this triangle its name!

“Very informative!”

A very interesting collection of opium memorabilia from opium weights to pipes etc. A detailed history of the farming & trading of opium as well as some of the wars & drug lords involved. It portrays what a huge industry this was & how it affected so many people & countries.
Upstairs houses a huge collection of pipes as well as some interesting photos of the Long Neck tribes & their fishing habits.
Well worth the visit.
