We stayed here in Oct and loved the convenient location. You can take a short-cut from the Sokcho intercity bus terminal (not to be mistaken with the Express bus terminal) to the House Hostel. Upon arrival at the Sokcho intercity bus terminal, go right and walk downhill towards the sea direction. At the first traffic junction, cross the road and turn right. About 2 minutes’ walk, you’ll see a very small non-descript convenience stall and the road sign overhead “Jangan-ro”. Turn left into the narrow side road and walk downhill. Walk about 5 minutes and you’ll see the House Hostel on the right.
The host Mr Yoo and his wife are very helpful and their recommendation of restaurants is very good. The BBQ restaurant is OK, the beef is great, chicken and sliced pork are also good but the seafood is not so fresh which is a pity since Sokcho should have plenty of seafood. The bibimbap restaurant he recommended is excellent. Also the dak galbi restaurant is fantastic. Prices at these restaurants are very reasonable. Will visit Sokcho and stay at the House Hostel again.More
