“Lifetime Inspiration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

The volcano may be fiery sometimes but it remains a lifetime of inspiration to me. I was born in Albay and I keep on coming home. Its view remains the best airport view ever. Where in the world will you see a wonderful volcano right after alighting from the plane? Visit Albay, there will always be wonders.

“Herbert Bañares”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014 via mobile

I totally agree with the review of Wouter S: don't book a tour to the Mayon with this guide!
We found his name on the net and so we tried to contact him: he soon replied to our email and offered the 2days and one night tour (till camp 2) for 4500php per head; the price seemed really good and so we decided to try with him! We've been unlucky due to weather condition and this is not his fault, but it was his fault the fact that he let us have the trip even if it was heavily raining ! Mount Mayon is not an easy track even with good weather conditions, try to imagine it with heavy rain...He was simply supposed to tell us that it was too dangerous and it was better to give up, but things didn't go this way! We left our guesthouse and reached the starting point of the trek. Rain was getting worse by the passing of the time; at one moment we reached a point where we were supposed to cross a river, but the water was increasing in level and so it was not safe to cross it (otherwise we were not been able to recross the river during the coming back). At this point Herbert suggested us to change our plan and to head to a place where there're rests of the last big eruption of he volcano (it's not worty). We accepted and it's been worse than previous part of the trek! We met slippery rocks, narrow paths, vert thick "vegetazione" and everything began worse by passing of hours... No one reported injuries, but it has been my worst trek ever!

I'm sorry to say that beacuse after knowing Herbert a bit I can say that he is not a bad person, but I think that sometimes he cares more about earning money than about the safety of his customers.

“The Perfect Cone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2014

When you visit Albay, there is absolutely no way you can miss this beautiful sight. Mayon Volcano is literally there, in all it's glory, everywhere you look. Although it shyly hides behind the clouds more often than not, it is definitely worth the wait to be awed when it finally reveals itself. Wake up early to catch the perfect cone.
Make no mistake: Mayon Volcano is an active volcano, so give it due respect and stay clear when it acts up. When it is peaceful, take the time to go up to see as much of it as you can, as close as you can, and you will not regret it. It is a must see attraction to check off your bucket list. The best time to go (also applies to any place in the Philippines) is January to earlier part of March when the weather is still cooler.

“ATV ride to Mayon”

A must try! Go as early as 5 am to see the Mayon completely and not covered by clouds. Trip takes 2 hours or more so avoid the heat as well

We climbed the volcano with a perfect weather and the view was just amazing ! It's impressive and peaceful, it's definitely something to do when you visit Legaspi.
You need a guide to find your way and then some filipinos were there to cook food for us.
