“Clean and comfortable but slow.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2012

We stayed at hotel Venezia for what was supposed to be two nights, but ended up being three nights because our flight was cancelled and we could only get another flight the next day. The hotel is clean, comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. But something must be said for the restaurant that is run as part of the hotel. It definitely had a bearing on our stay at the hotel.

Unfortunately, the service in the restaurant was terribly slow. Legaspi is not a big town, so there are not that many places to eat dinner, if you're looking for something a little more tasteful than take out, so we ate dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. The food was ok for the first two evenings - Saturday evening and Sunday evening, despite the service being a little haphazard. Some dishes were really good while others were a bit disappointing. We ordered souffle which was totally overdone and burned. You could smell it as the souffle arrived at the table.

On Monday morning, we expected that breakfast would be ready by the time we had arranged. The staff had told us the previous evening, that we could have breakfast as requested come Monday morning at the time we requested. We ended up leaving for the airport at least half an hour later than we had planned and without having had the full breakfast we had expected. It turned into a very brief continental breakfast. That may be fine for some, but not for us after being told our order of full breakfast would be ready for us at the appointed time.

Waiters were not always paying attention to the table despite their friendly way of serving. By Monday evening, one of the chefs in the kitchen had changed - perhaps the weekend staff were different to the weekday staff? - and one of the dishes on the menu that had really been a highlight of our previous meals, was completely different and not properly cooked.

It was also surprising that a hotel of this kind, would not have games or a games room of some kind for guests to use in situations where outdoor activities have to be cancelled due to rain. We could not hike up mount Mayon as planned due to rain, and ended up having to find a store in the town to get cards to keep ourselves busy during the rain. The reception staff were helpful in finding out where we could get some games for ourselves though. The movie theatres at the shopping centres were certainly not showing the best movies even though we did watch one. If you head to Legaspi, be sure to have a plan B of some kind in case of wet weather.

I think this hotel is one of the better ones in Legaspi. It has an airport shuttle service which is definitely useful and the whole look of the hotel as you walk in is clean and smart. However, do not expect complete efficiency from the restaurant. The reception staff were very friendly and on the whole, the service was good in that area. The stay would have been great except for the inefficiency in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side facing away from the road will not get the noise of the restaurant as much.

The hotel's location is really close to the airport and very convenient.

Beware of the extra person charge for the rooms even though you can fit 3 comfortably.

Don't bother ordering room service, they take way too long!

The rooms and overall facilities are clean and it helps that they have WiFi.

Overall, I give them 3 stars and if you need a decent place to stay in Legaspi City, it's not a bad place.

Service wise - excellent. Superb like Misibis Bay. The free shuttle pick up service in the airport was impressive. Most of the guests were in one coaster while me and my partner is in a van. One van for the two of us. Arriving the hotel, they served us cold towels and welcome drinks. We were not expecting it. :)

Room is okay for us. We got the deluxe rooms which I read here in the previous reviews - a bit small for two. My partner loved the cozy room given to us. We didn't need the wifi because we were there for a vacation. Swimming pool, i didn't see one. I was informed that its located within the subdivision but we'd rather stay in the room. Bed was very comfy. Most of the time we were sleeping. Hands down to housekeeping because for four days, they change our towels, bedsheets and refill our water EVERYDAY. Yep, new sheets everyday. Impressive!

We would want to stay here again. Probably 3 more days after our Misibis Bay trip. :)

Room Tip: Get a bigger room but the deluxe rooms are good too :)

To summarize: good room, good service, good food !

They have free shuttle pickup service and even gave a small rolled-up cold towel to refresh ourselves in the shuttle when we were picked up in the airport.

Location-wise, it is very near the airport.

Restaurant food is good and priced reasonably! We had almost tried everything in their menu and so far , all of them tasted good. Best dish for us is the garlic-chili lechon kawali. When this took a bit longer to cook, they served free cream of squash soup and bread/butter (compliments of the chef) to ease our waiting time.

Good size pool which we had all to ourselves! You have to exit the hotel and walk further down the road and you'll find the pool and function room to an area to your left. No need to worry about walking out of the hotel to find the pool, since the hotel is located inside an exclusive and private subdivision - so it is perfectly safe.

Room is spacious and modernly-decorated. LCD TV is a Samsung (nice!). Wi-fi is a bit slow, but usable. Bed is very comfy. And there's a lot of mirrors in the room (yay!) haha.

Complimentary bottled water is limited, so better request for a pitcher of filtered water to be brought to your room instead. We didn't want to use the coffee-maker to broil water for tea (and hate waiting too), so we requested a small pot of hot water to be delivered to our room instead.

We arranged a city tour the next day, and we got an aircon van (very new) just for ourselves for only 3.5k! Good deal I say. The driver/tour guide is very courteous too and keeps volunteering to carry our purchases for us, and even holds an umbrella for us when it started to drizzle. We have him 200 tip at the end of the trip.

We didn't like the snacks handed out as part of the turn-down service - as we think they are leftovers from the buffet spread. Picky eaters haha.

We had the free Lava ATV tour as part of the honeymoon package. It was soooo much fun! Better to wear rubber shoes and jogging pants when doing this so that you protect your legs and feet from the puddles splashes when you cross small rivers.

Overall, this is a good place to stay when in Legazpi!

Room Tip: Get a room on the 2nd floor for a shorter climb (stairs). There is no elevator in this hotel.

The Standard room is rather small and appropriate only for a single occupant. But it is very clean, comfortable, and well maintained.
Call them for a free shuttle service from the airport.

This was my first trip to the Philippines, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I traveled on business - this hotel was booked by the local office and they didn't tell me much about it. After landing in the tiny Legaspi airport, and driving through town, I wasn't expecting much. This place is a castle where every guest is the king.

Everything the other guests say is true- the included bedtime snacks were great after a long day, and the bed was comfy enough. My room didn't have such a great view, but we were working 12 hour days so I didn't spend a lot of time there anyway. The minibar was well stocked, and minibar pricing was extremely reasonable- I never use minibars but at this hotel I did.

The staff were extremely nice, and the service was excellent. I would say the quality of service is almost up to Japanese standards (highest quality of service in the world).

The time required to check out was much longer than I expected because of a troublesome guest in front of me, but this wasn't the fault of the staff.

I never found the pool. Maybe it was closed? As others have said, you will need to arrange transportation since this hotel is not centrally located.

Internet speed was OK but not too exciting. It was not very usable in the lobby, but was OK in the room. Not very fast but better than I expected.
