“Good but Rude”
Reviewed September 22, 2007

The place was good as it offers a scenic view of the Taal Lake/Volcano. But the guards and staff are so RUDE. Being in the 'tourism/customer-oriented" industry, the management should take pains training their people. You see, a beautiful experience can just turn sour at any moment because of ill-trained guards and staff. Please, invest in your people. If they're beyond training, at least fire them.

if you want to spend a memorable vacation, don't go for the cheap, go for the best. I think this is the scenic overlook the whole of tagaytay ( day or night ) flickering lights down and stars above engulf dark space ( thinking of alpha quadrant ). The whole view of prism ( beautiful rainbow in early morning ). " rush, take pictures, few click and its, gone... ". Tiptoed guest with hundred years old eyes hardly open, jumping out of bed reflecting on the thick walled glass witness as the beauty of the colors fade away... PRICELESS. The male security guard downstairs didn't spend a second thought helped my MOM to the wheelchair as we walked back to our room. I don't know what food preferences others liked, but the food served is fine, it hits the target. We are all exhausted, remember that, we can't even appreciate the smiles the hotel people show to us, we are deaf to hear the way they asked what else we need, we are even blind the how they show us or lead us the way. Now i am back, now i remember... thanks a lot for all of your services. i hope the small handshake had helped you.. keep it up....

My son had a wedding reception on this hotel. The price of the food that we paid is a rif off. The food is not worth what we paid for. The staff are not friendly. It was supposed to be a buffet but not everybody have taken their food and we are not yet done they took back everything as once. The taste of the food is not good at all. The lady that was in charge of the wedding is a pain. I ask for why the food in the presidential table is not the same as in the buffet (there was no beef that is supposed to be there) and she just give a dagger look. The other staffs are not friendly as well. We felt we are not welcome and we owe them our stay even we have a 1 year reservation and fully paid the whole amount in advance. I will never come back to this hotel and will never recommend it.

At around USD 140 a night I was expecting something special and there was a lot that I liked about the hotel. The location and food (except for the breakfast) was excellent and the staff always in attendance and being the Phillipines friendly of course.
The big disappointment was the room which was frankly awful. For USD 140 a night in Asia I expect a lot and the room we stayed in (401 - a deluxe for the record) was frankly awful.

We arranged rates with our travel agent who confirmed in our presence the rates with their Manila office. A premiere Suite with two king sized beds and an extra bed for 3 adults to share. When we arrived they would not honor the deal but offered us the room at highly more plus a discount; bringing it withing a slightly higher range of what we expected to pay. Then they added more for an extra person and a roll away bed.

We got to the room; no one assisted with our luggage, and found one king sized bed with three pillows! We called the front desk immediately and they said this was what we asked for. We went back to get our money back and they made us argue with a lady who we found out later was pretending to be the manager just to get our money back. They offered nothing to keep us there and actually stated that since we had driven from Manila that we had little choice but to stay. That just made us madder. We had a very nice dinner at Hawaiian Barbecue and drove home never to return. This was my family's first time to the Philippines and it left a bad taste in their mouths for the country as a whole. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Stayed at Taal Vista Hotel for 1 night last October. We were a group of 6 adults so we opted to get 3 rooms. The rack rates are quite stiff but good thing they were running a promotion at the time we were there that we were able to get the rooms at PHP 1,600 each. The rooms are okay. Nothing extravagant but they were clean with okay views (we didn't get the Taal Mountain view since this was more expensive). We had breakfast at their restaurant which I think was free with the rooms. The food was nothing fancy and of course, there are so many better restaurants in Tagaytay for lunch/dinner. Their massage treatment was great! They are actually available 24 hours and they do room service as long as you call ahead of time and schedule. We also tried the Ylang Ylang Spa and it was also great!! And of course, it was just so convenient that the Casino Filipino Tagaytay is just across the road. The only downside that I can think of is the fact that our rooms are far from the lobby and since it was raining real hard when we got there, we had to get a little wet to reach our room even though there is a covered walkway from the lobby to the rooms. All in all, a really great stay and we hope to return again same time this year!

First of all, I love Tagaytay with its picturesque view of the Taal volcano and the cool climate.

I've stayed twice so far in Taal Vista (Sep and Oct 06) on an overnight stay and found it to be great.

The rooms are ok but you have to tell the frontdesk in advance if you want a room with the view of the lake. Of course you shouldn't arrive too late for check-in. Otherwise they'll send you to a room with a view of only their property walls. This happened on our 1st trip but I called the frontdesk to transfer us, which they obliged. The new room's view was great! And it was cheaper than the suite I originally booked (the only difference being the living room which we don't really need).

Breakfast buffet was ok although I don't recommend the dinner buffet (some of the food during dinner tasted bland).

Taal Vista's viewdeck is nice, offering a good view of the Taal volcano and the lake which me and my family love to stroll during afternoons and chilly mornings.

They have ample parking space.
