We were with a couple of balikbayan guests when we stayed at the Taal Vista hotel. We were worried that it being a really old hotel, there would be a moldy, musty smell. So thankful that there wasn’t any of that. They were satisfied with the size of the room (Mountain View) and its cleanliness. There were sufficient toiletries, including fluffy bedroom slippers and robes. The breakfast buffet was average. There was also a male trio who was serenading the breakfast crowd. Honestly, I would have preferred some peace and quiet but my foreigner friends were quite entertained.
Another plus for the hotel is their Kultura gift shop which offered a wide array of interesting and reasonably-priced Filipiniana products. Thanks to the very friendly sales personnel, we discovered that we could use our SM Advantage/Prestige card to earn some points, something that the Front Desk failed to disclose. Overall though the hotel staff and personnel were respectful, attentive and solicitous, especially towards my father-in-law who required a wheelchair to get to his room at the Lake Wing.
One shouldn’t miss the beautiful view at the back of the hotel. Taal Vista added some interesting “props” (a yellow frame, quaint bench etc) to enhance the view even further.
It was nice to see for myself that Taal Vista Hotel remains to be a very good choice should you decide to stay in Tagaytay.
