First of all the room was new. The new long wing and almost the furthest from the restaurant. We had a double and single bed so needed a roll out for which they charges 1000 pesos a night on top of the room rate. Breakfast for 2 was included but we had to pay half rates for the 2 kids (500 pesos? each) I know this is common practice in all hotels but still find it hard to take given that small children generally only eat very little at breakfst!.(US$10 for a child's breakfast is hard to swallow in the Philippines when half the population live on less than US$2 a day.)

The views of th volcano are of course stunning but most hotels along the ridge in Tagaytay offer this. The pool was clear but chilly, matching the air temperature at night.

The security was good. The customer service was good in the restaurant and common areas and my husband had a great massage in the spa. The concierge however was totally lacking in knowledge about hte area.
The buffets were good especially the Christmas Eve dinner.

We wondered if Discovery suites would be a better option or the new Lake Hotel which looked very good from the outside.
To summarise, this hotel is an ugly carbuncle on the ridge and its size is not an advantage unless you are having a wedding a need to house lots of guests. We are European and stiil cannot understand why hotel prices in the Philippines are so high hence when we pay European prices we expect high standards. The Taal vista did not really meet our expectations.

Also have you considered looking at some of the smaller hotels down on the lake in Talisay? The views are not the same but you can still see the volcano islands in the lake and it is a smaller friendlier spot.

my husband and i were having second thoughts on booking a reservation since it doesn't have many good reviews. but omg, we're really very happy that we did stay on this hotel. our room has a great view of taal, the food was ok (not pricey) and the hotel itself is soo nice. even the spa was great and price is ok. Will definitely go back!!

stayed at the East wing Deluxe room... furnishings were pretty new & modern... just lacking the tub. Booked a 2D1N package directly with the hotel about p8000 - includes spa treatment for 2, breakfast and city tour. May not be the cheapest deal but all went well, i guess thats most crucial for me - no hiccups. City tour & spa reservation was smooth, staff were accommodating. No WOW factor, but alright. I guess staff could be warmer and more generous with their smile.
It was unfortunately foggy, due to occasional showers. Still, view from the balcony is to die for. Just sitting there watching the scenery change with the movement of the clouds/ fog... peaceful bliss.

The hotel is nice. Considering the other hotels in the area, i would say that this is best of the lot AT THE MOMENT. Good view around the premises. Rates is quite expensive for such a hotel. I have stayed at other hotels in the area like Days, Hotel Dominique, Estancia and others and so far this is the best of the lot. I haven't tried those boutique hotels like Discovery and the other one which the name escapes me now. Overall, for seasoned travellers, don't expect much and for the seasonal travellers, this hotel can be ok.

We stayed at Taal Vista for two nights (night before the wedding and the day off). We reserved the deluxe east room through their online website and it was about $180 per night! I have stayed at numerous hotels ranging from budget to luxury hotels and I can tell you that Taal Vista rates are expensive (and some might say not worth it) especially for Philippines. I think for their basic standard room runs from $100 to $150 depending on the season. We got a deluxe room so it costs a lot more. So from a price range of $100 to $200 per night (depening on the room) Is Taal Vista worth it? Yes, if you want to stay at a very well known and establised hotel. The grounds are well-kept and the view is amazing. The lobby is inviting and the restaurant (where they also have the breakfast buffet) was very decent. Overall, the hotel is quite nice. However, the hotel is not worth it if you don't really care about what I had just mentioned and you are expecting a decked out room (which you should for the price you pay). The rooms were nice BUT not $200 nice! We got two rooms and for my room, I actually got a room upgrade so I love the staff at Taal Vista!!! So, I think the service staff is amazing (being biased hre).
Tips: Try their amazing spa ( prices are reasonable and worth it!)
Have breakfast/brunch/lunch/dinner at Josephine's Restaurant (right next to the hotel)
Make the most out of the hotel by taking lots of pictures with the Taal Volcano.
Also, if you can be spontaneous, try to do a "walk-in" when you want to book a room at Taal Vista, I hear you can get a much better deal based from my friend's experience.

Last impression: I went all out for our wedding and that is why we stayed at Taal Vista and it was worth it. But the only time I would stay here again is if the rates considerably go down to $100 or less (the spa is what's making me want to come back). For their most basic standard room, I would not pay more than $60 per night. My friend who did the walk-in paid about $60 for the basic standard room. Next time, I'm definitely going to do a walk in!

Before coming into tagaytay we are very excited and full of high expectations. Of course, they say its one of the best hotel with the best view of the volcano. So, we decided to stay there for 3 days and 2 nights.

We arrived at night and reservation has been done by our friends who were already at the hotel. We stayed on the side where you have the view of the hotel. Its either east or west wing. Im not really sure but its the most expensive side of the hotel because you have the view. When we entered the room, it was really good and very clean. The bathroom is the best. Its clever how they lay out their bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable. Pillows are very good. Over-all the place is perfect. And the view of the volcano from your veranda is exceptional. No wonder it's the most expensive side of the hotel.

Woke up at around 9 am, and head straight to breakfast buffet. I read a lot of articles that a breakfast at Taal Vista is a must try. I really think that their buffer is pretty average. Nothing special about it. Something that I would not recommend. The fruits are not fresh. Its canned fruits because they included the syrup in the bowl. Thats is dissapointing. The selections are pretty average. The juices are not fresh, its too sweet and taste artificial.

One of the most alarming fact about Taal Vista Hotel is the slow service. We dont understand why but its just very slow. During breakfast, we were observing some people who just left thier table, we were surprised that no one's cleaning the table for the other guests to use. Its been like that for 30 minutes. It takes a long time before they clean up the tables. Its just too messy! They dont have enough staff thats why its too messy.

One afternoon we had a drink at the lobby lounge. Our friend says that they have this pika pika for 50 pesos and that is until 7 pm. So we arrived at 6:45 pm and ordered for this pika pika and we were surprised because the man said that we cant order because its only until 7 pm. That is something I find rediculous! While drinking, we observed them again, and same problem occur. No one is cleaning the tables for a long time. Imagine seeing a place full of empty bottles and plates with no people around it. And the service is very slow.

A friend of mine says that it's something you dont expect in a hotel specially if you are paying P9000 pesos a night. I dont blame the staff working for this hotel becuase we can see that they are working hard. But, they need more staff and improve thier service!
