“the most awful hotel....”
Reviewed February 16, 2009

Since its Valentines day, a proclaim 4 star hotel should be prepared for bulk guests. We checked in @ 1:30pm and ordered our lunch the same time, our food served 3:45pm! their reason was they have wedding and they only have one kitchen! The food was tasteless, and expensive. The room was not worth paying P8,000. the stains in the bathroom bowl is disgusting. Room facilities are old and dirty! We asked for in-house water for the coffee and we got the bottled water after 5 hours! Buffet breakfast is dull, better eat @ mcdo across the hotel.

The hotel is understaff. You can see used plates of the guests @ the room hallway which was there for days, housekeeping doesn’t exist here! Its yucky ! seeing food @ the room hallway ! I should have taken pictures of those and give it to dept of tourism or health.

I will never recommend this hotel not even to my worst enemy!

We stayed at the Taal Vista Hotel due to the fact that we have stayed here twice before and although it is brutally expensive on our budget it is a good quality hotel with awesome views out over the famous Taal Lake.
We actually looked at two other places this time, the Days hotel was fully booked which is a shame as we wanted to try it as it’s some 2000 peso a night cheaper than the Taal Vista, oh well next time. The other place we looked at was The Royal Parc Hotel, Now this was much cheaper than the Taal Vista about a quarter of the price.
I asked to see a room and that really was enough. How about if somebody want’s to see a room in your hotel you try showing them a room that’s made up, not unmade beds and a room full of mosquitoes we had already been eaten alive by them elsewhere we certainly did not want a room full of them.
So running out of patience we headed for the Taal Vista which for me is has abig plus, a casino across the road.
It’s performing a soft opening on it’s new wing and we got a room in there at a 2000 peso a night discount because the lift was not working and because there might be other teething problems, that seemed fair enough to us especially as there were no other rooms available!
The reception was very efficient and we headed off to our rooms.
It’s a long walk from the reception through to the new rooms but the new rooms themselves are a worth the walk.
The bathroom design is very smart and luxurious.
The beds are nice big and comfortable and there is a nice plasma TV.
The view might not be as good in some of the rooms, but these rooms are way better than in the older part of the hotel and I would recommend going for them.
When finished this new wing will be a real plus for the hotel.
The downside is there do seem to be some acoustic problems with noises from the wind howling around and you can clearly hear people walking around two floors below.
The place might benefit from some sound deadening.

I secured a rate of about P3600 for the first night through a hotel booking website, but when extending my stay at the hotel, I paid P2999 a night (the latter rate without breakfast).

Arriving at 1340 on a Sunday, my room was not ready - as expected, the hotel's 128 rooms were fully occupied on Saturday night. I enjoyed the view of Taal Volcano from the grassed area in front of the hotel's restaurants, and watched a bride and her beloved strut around.

It became available by about 1430.

My standard (so-called 'superior') room was generously sized with a reasonable outlook to Taal Volcano, which I walked on during my stay.

Room amenities in the bathroom and bedroom were excellent, and the three bedroom lamps ensured a good standard of lighting at night.

At breakfast, there was some banging as a large addition to the hotel (which is owned by SM Holdings "tycoon" Henry Sy of ShoeMart fame) is to open in November 2008, promising even better views of Taal Volcano.

The bathroom had been renovated within the last five years: trendy stone floor tiles were a feature. The hot water was suitably hot not just warm, and instant.

The bed was particularly comfortable although some may not like the rubber pillows. The room's in-room safe failed to initially operate, but the staff rectified this as a previous guest had locked it (contrary to instructions).

The long corridors lend a rather hospital-like atmosphere to the approach to the rooms.

Breakfast was very good, with dried fruit featuring and my favourite 'Four seasons' juice' along with the usual Filipino 'egg station' for an omelette. The atmosphere was unhurried, but no sliced mango was on display. It should be!

The outside pool was well maintained and the water a pleasant temperature even though I did not visit on the hottest day.

The staff were helpful with directions to Taal Volcano and the concierge even came out onto the highway to assist in negotiations with the trike (taxi) operator.

Internet access is available in the business centre, but the price at P120 per hour is four to six times the standard rate at Internet cafes in the Philippines.

For a great hotel, they certainly do go cheap on the food. It's a pity because the place is beautiful, the staff is wonderfully friendly, but you can tell that they totally go cheap with the quality of the food. Shame on them for being a 4 star hotel!!!

My family was in the Philippines for 18 days in December 2007. We stayed at this hotel for 9 days and was very pleased. It is comparable to a 4 star american hotel, yet about half the price. All the ameneties of a major hotel, beautiful views of Lake Taal. Rooms were okay, nothing special. Would recommend if you are in the area.

We stayed there for 2nights and 3 days. We know it is expensive however when we went inside the room, there is a flyer that stated a "discount rate" the flyer did not mentioned any deadline. When we check out and showed the male receptionist the discount flyer he won't acknowledge it. and responded "oh those are over" Why place something in a room that they cannot deliver. I am glad we did not stay longer.

On buffet breakfast we paid extra 1,000+ on extra meal, while my daughter was eating, she spit out small silver metal. The waitress came and saw what happened and took the metal which she described as part of steel wool used to clean pots and pans. They did not charge us for the extra meal, but makes me wonder what else in there from the food that we just have eaten. Food are not that good so if you are checking in there, eat somewhere.

The room was extremely cold and can't adjust the airconditioning temperature, the remote control was not working. The bathtowel has distinct odor of not properly washed.

Be careful when using the exercise room, there is additional charge for using it which is ridiculous for the amount of rate you are paying.

me and my fiance then went to this hotel to inquire of their wedding packages because we wanted to hold our wedding here. the place was nice, plus the view was superb. but their customer service was just sooo bad. in the information counter, there were about 3 people all talking on the phone. it took us a while before somebody actually gave us their attention. and this was because we were TRYING to get their attention. and when finally this girl discussed their wedding packages to us, the girl was so cold, and not so friendly. The hotel is world class so we were expecting a bit more from their staff. we were so disappointed with them we scrapped them off our list of our possible wedding venue.
