“Came for the view and the breakfast buffet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014

Both were terrific. The view cannot be beat - the hotel offering a wonderful view of Taal lake and the volcano. The breakfast buffet was well worth the money (and the drive). Offered a wide selection of food, both western and Filipino. The coffee, which I think was the so-called "baraco" local variety was very good. The hotel staff (at least those on duty in the restaurant) provided excellent service, were quick to respond to a request and very attentive (without being annoying). Will be back to actually stay at hotel as makes a great weekend getaway. The lake and the subsequent boat ride to the volcano was then an easy drive down the mountain.

We stayed 2 nights for our wedding we held close by. The hotel boasts an awesome view of the lake. If you are looking for a nice weekend stay out of town it's a nice place. Rooms are ok, nothing special but functional. If you get a good promo rate e.g. via SM Advantage it's fine. PS It's huge. If you are looking for a small/romantic/boutique place go somewhere else. Really crowded on the weekends.

It's the first time for us to stay in a hotel and even before we've checked out, we're already itching to get back.
Taal Vista has the best location, offering the most picturesque view of Taal Lake and part of Batangas.
Check in was fast since we had called in advance and reserved for our rooms. The staff were helpful and polite. We stayed at the Fourth Floor of the Lake Wing and there was a view deck in the room that provided a beautiful vista of our surroundings. We rented two premier rooms which each had one big bed and one single bed. The size of the room was ample. Toilet and separate shower were both good, except for the metal locks which seem loose.
The breakfast buffet was generous. The staff - waiter Marthe and another fellow (whose name I forgot to take not) - were cheerfully going about their jobs and provided our requests for extra chairs, etc.
The pool was a short walk away from the Lake Wing as it was located in the Mountain Wing. The kids enjoyed the pool, though I believe it would be a big boost if they had another one located nearer the Lake Wing (and possibly a heated indoor pool). Aside from the pool and the kiddie area, I am not familiar with other attractions/activities that the hotel offered so I hope they come up with other good options for guests and travelers. Wifi is free, but quite slow. Phone signals (I had two lines from competing networks and one registered no signal at all) are sadly erratic.
The regal Taal Vista Hotel is another reason to come back to cool, beautiful Tagaytay. It was a happy experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a good room, preferably from the Lake Wing which is relatively new. INSIST on getting your m...

The generous view of Taal lake and volcano made our workshop more productive and rewarding. The noontime cultural show was an added bonus for foreign and Filipino guests. Buffet salad and entree choices were very good but the local fruits served were not the best.

I stayed at the Taal Vista for a business meeting, and found that it was a very pleasant experience. The bedrooms were spacious (Lake view), the beds and pillows comfortable, all Lake View rooms come with a balcony and seats to enjoy the view of the lake and volcano. Everything worked! The only gripe I had was that the wifi reception was poor in my room (3_8) and I had to go to the common areas for a stronger signal. The breakfast and luncheon served had a good variety to choose from, and the staff were very gracious and accommodating.
The grounds were well maintained, and there was a small games room and pool. As we were involved in a meeting, I did not explore the amusement park located next to the hotel, and the casino just opposite the road, which would be of interest for guests who come for "R&R".

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room.

We brought our visitors from Sydney for lunch and I must say the quality of the food and the wide selection was a welcome surprise. Since we came on a weekday, they had a slow crowd which made for a pleasant dining experience. The view from the outdoor patio is fantastic and made the lunch much more memorable. We availed of discount vouchers from a group buying site which added to the value of our experience.

Perhaps a down side is that coffee or tea is not included in the buffet price. Given the high prices they charge for the lunch buffet, it should be included in the price.
