My Casa de Carlo Review

A trip to Casa de Carlo is like travelling in time.

The hushed tones of the Spanish hall, the beautiful garden with stupendous flowers, and relaxing atmosphere makes you think of an era long gone.

Unlike most hotels that are harsh and cold, this place bears a resemblance to that home of rich old grandaunt that you might have had. This place is a must visit for the beauty of the garden is indescribable.

And note that another plus factor that this reviewer of Casa de Carlo noted is the affordability of accommodations where you can get a unit good for eight people at only 250 a head.

Another reason why you should go to this fabulous hideaway in Tagaytay is to enjoy the spa room, where they have a luxurious multi-jet shower with glowing colorful lights and an ipod doc inside to have the best shower of your life and enjoy a relaxing massage after.

If you've been dreaming of having a beautiful wedding, debut, or any similar kind of function, or to simply enjoy a getaway where you can relax in the cool winds of Tagaytay and no longer want to go for cold and generic hotel rooms, give yourself and your loved ones the unforgettable experience of going to Casa de Carlo.

This review of Casa de Carlo is one that I write so you won't get swayed by minor complaints of the other reviews that if you will note, nearly all issues where addressed.

I got a promo voucher at ensogo for 50% off for one of Casa de Carlos villa. The villa had 2 BR, 1 attic with 1 T&B. It also had a small living room, dining area, kitchen with ref, gas range and kitchen utensils. Honestly, for 2k a night, this was a good deal. Unfortunately, the house is not well maintained. The ceiling and walls had cracks and paint is falling off, shower was either too hot or too cold, there is a small toilet at the back near the laundry area that was so dirty I didn't dare look at it a second time. The events area does not look good either. This place needs major overhaul. I gave it a chance even after I read the bad reviews I bought the voucher just because of the good price. But I will definitely not come back to this place even for a discounted price. Oh, if there's one good thing about this place is that the girls who changed our linens are very nice and polite.

If youre looking for some excitement or adventure like ghost haunting, try to stay here a few nights and you might find yourself the only guest especially during low season, actually the Resort if you call it have only 3 rooms and they are fashoned with spanish theme since the origianl owner are from spain,Rooms are very old, dillapilated and with some antigues display inside with a small restroom, luckily i had my family stay with me but still no one dare to stay inside the room alone nor go to the toilet alone, kinda funny?the resort used to be a weekend retreat of the owner with a spacious garden setting converted to wedding venue and is located inside a rundown subdivision near savemore, mendez.thats why dont expect any service at par with even a 3 star hotel, just treat yourself like staying in your cousins resthouse for free.Breakfast is good as it is serve in the garden but you had nothing to do inside except play some pool with a antique pool table. but if you like museum, its a place tailor for you cause the place had some collection of hunting knifes and fishing stuff of the owner, stuff animal and antique china ware, actually they can called this place casa carlo museum and collect some entrance fee, after a overnight stay and having breakfast we check out ASAP and will remember this place forever.

Room Tip: had only a family room 3 with 2 double beds and room 1 and 2 are for couples mostly, just like a hous...

This is an old Spanish themed hotel with a few rooms. My family stayed in one of the 2 executive suites. It has a four-poster bed which is one reasons why I wanted try this place. The place itself was nice. They have a billiard table (the only recreation facility in the area) which my son enjoyed playing with. The great thing about the place is if you have a car, you an easily go to the restaurants nearby and even a grocery store. Their breakfast was ok and their extra person charge is very cheap at P250 with free breakfast! So if you want simple, quiet, nice Spanish feel place in Tagaytay, try this place. It is recommended to bring your own car as the place is located in an old subdivision although getting there by tricycle is easy.

We stayed in one of their townhouses which is practically a house on its own. It has 2 floors, living room, dining area, kitchen, 2 bedrooms with air-con, 1 bath with hot and cold water and an attic turned into a bedroom. It also has its own gate and parking space. Nice right?

However, the unit we were assigned to was located outside the main compound so if you need help from the staff, you need get out of your house and walk a few meters to the main compound. It's really a short walk but then the main compound has a gate and you still need to ring the bell and wait for someone to let you in. The staff who assisted us said she will give us a mobile phone number which we can call/text if we need anything but she never did.

The house is a bit old so expect a little “old” smell when you go in.

The bedroom was obviously newly sprayed with insecticide when we arrived as dead mosquitoes sprawled across the bed.

Wi-fi does not reach this townhouse unit but we are free to go the main hall to use their free wi-fi.

There is no breakfast included in the Townhouse package and towels are also not provided. But these were disclosed in the website so we knew about this before reserving.

All in all, it was a good stay. Not spectacular but acceptable. I would say we got what we paid for.

Room Tip: Unless you want to be alone and does not care much about exploring the hotel grounds, make sure you...

My boyfriend booked here because he's curious as to what the room looked like and the rate was cheap. Since we've been to Tagaytay-Alfonso area twice (together), we never had problems dropping off Mendez crossing. Though since we're not really familiar with the place and not sure as to where tricycles were, we had a hard time finding one. It was a short ride from the crossing to the place. It doesn't look like a hotel but an event venue. (Well, that's why they are famous as wed venue). Anyway, we were greeted from the gate and had to walk their spanish lobby area. We were walked through the room which was just beside the lobby. The room has few snacks that you can pay during checkout, there was toiletries such as toothbrush, shampoo, soap, towels and free keychain! The tv was big enough, closets were smelly (old), spanish style room. Kinda creepy (as I'm easily get scared haha). CR was a-okay. There was problem with their bowl which continually flushes. Boyfriend fixed it himself. Their cable tv has more or less 10 channels. We stayed in the room most of the day because we're afraid to go to Tagaytay and never get back to Mendez before super night. (You wont see a lot of cars driving along the hig way at 8pm, we experienced that long ago and considering the location of casa!) Ordered their pesto in the afternoon. It was superb we thought of ordering again the next day for take out. It was good for 4 people (280 pesos without vat tho). There was no food for dinner except for pasta. But we're no linger craving for pasta.. The receptionist called a trike driver to help us get to Jollibee. They waited for us and paid almost double of what we were supposed to pay. Breakfast the next day was served in the garden which in my opinion is too small for wedding but hey, they manage to do several events already so why not. The rice was stone cold. No point asking us what time should it be served. Weak water pressure. Wasn't able to bath. Checking out was smooth. Kudos to the receptionist. She was kind :)
