My partner and I were heading to Batangas 2 weeks ago when suddenly we felt very tired and thought of retiring for the day before we go anymore further. We were looking for a place to stay, our criteria: clean, safe, comfortable and of course, affordable.
After visiting dozens of W-Hotel-wanna-be-hotels (mind you their rates too, I dont understand what they were thinking about when they were figuring this out!), we saw this yellowish new building very near the Rotunda of Tagaytay, If Im not mistaken, it must be the newest amongst the lot there. The billboard says Lee Boutique Hotel Tagaytay.
Since it was new, we felt that it was worth looking at, at the same time, crossing our fingers that it would not be a W-Hotel-Wanna-Be-Hotel. As we entered, it felt very different. It definitely wasn't a W, nor was it a "house" but it exuded a certain warmth as we entered. My partner saw a couch and decided to sit while I went to the counter to inquire.
The hotel had very decent rates. PHP3,500++ on weekdays and PHP 5,000++ on weekends for the cheapest rooms. Mind you, the lot went to, were asking for an arm and a leg compared to these rates.
The receptionist offered to show us around and we said yes. We saw the regular room which was big. It had a queen size bed which they called the Lee pampering bed, a 2 seater table and a 2 seater sofa inside. Seriously, it was gorgeous. We were invited to go to the second floor where we saw other rooms, this time with balconies.
Then the last place we went to was the 3rd floor where they had the so called deck. It was charming. The place had outdoor chairs where you can watch the sunset. It was really relaxing there that we decided to stay. We took the room with a balcony in the 2nd floor.
We liked Lee. Everything seemed not to be complicated. They had what they called EZ check in, everything you needed was just a phone call away. I didnt feel that the staff were trying to impress us...they were just naturally nice and honest.
Oh this one was fantastic: After having dinner outside and as we entered the room, we found that the arrangement seemed to have changed. There was a silver container and 2 cups. We didnt really know what it was and we actually thought it was sent to a wrong room when we suddenly saw a message beside the cups which read "Dear Salvador, something warm to keep you cozy tonight. Hoping you have a good morning tomorrow."
The container had soup in it and we really enjoyed. It was unexpected and again, uncomplicated. It wasn't some praline or some hot baked cookies. It was just merely hot creamy soup which really was a very nice gesture.
