We chose this hotel because of it's affordable price posted in Trip Advisor. It was a quick decision because we just want a quick break from the boring routine of city life. By the way, online transaction is way better and cheaper. Lots of options too.

We arrived at I think exactly 2pm. We are greeted by friendly staff and the room was ready and we were informed of inclusive deals and such. The place is pleasing enough though the location is really far from the main road. Perfect place if you want to forget the noise of the urban jungle and the sight of high buildings and the fog of polluted air. It is really ideal if you have a car of your own if you want to go around Tagaytay, but if you are commuting, 30-40 pesos tricycle ride can be a bit of a pain but once you are at Magallanes square, travelling is easy. Considering the place is really a long stretch of private properties and sort of exclusive subdivisions, not much public transport option to and from the hotel. But it is a great place to jog or walk around if you need some nice morning stretch.

We availed of the standard room with a Queen size bed. Room is clean and nice cabinets and tables inside, ref, cable TV with considerable channel options. The hotel itself is nice and homey. The inclusive massage session was a surprise to us so we immediately went to it after an hour of rest. I am no expert with massage therapies but I would say it is relaxing enough. Me and my girlfriend slept the whole day and woke up in the middle of the night. Too bad their cafe is only up until 10pm. We have to settle with a few food we brought when we came in because outgoing transport of the hotel is only until 8pm (and that is why it is better you have a car). It would be nice if there are other transport options here. I can't comment on the food other than their breakfast buffet. It is a nice breakfast though and it's free so quit complaining about it. The pool is nice, though we didn't take a dip because we opted to go out for short walk along the Magallanes drive and a quick tour of Skyranch. Overall our overnight stay is nice and restful. This would be our 1st option if ever we want to go back to Tagaytay but this time, we will bring a car because trike rides can be a terrible experience.

Writing this review as a first hand experience with Wingate.

First thing you guys need to improve on is your visibility from the hiway. There were no sign boards are anything to tell guests where you are. Its one thing that tricycle drivers know your location but its another thing if guests will have an idea where you are when they arrive there. Second is that, your location is at least about half a a kilometer from the hiway; i highly suggest you have bikes for rent or motorcycles for rent. This will provide your guests more positive experience in terms of accessibility from the hotel to where they want to go. Dont rely on tricycles whose fare is Php 40 just for a ride from the hotel to the main road amd vice versa. Lastly, make the best experience there is for your guests; be proactive with their needs, or wants. Understand why they went to Tagaytay and offer all assistance possible. Dont just stay in the comfort of "your in the hotel, thats where my responsibility is" kind of thinking. Think out of the box in making your guests experience remebering!

Positive things:
1) Pool is very clean and well maintained.
2) Saturday breakfast buffet.
3) Relaxing massage and the ability to let the guests choose their preferred time.
4) Courteous hotel personnel.

The place is so relaxing that it is away from the city. Staffs are nice also. The room is average. Other reviews are true, food needs more more more improvement to become appetizing. Above all its still great experience specially the free whole body massage and the pool.. still you cannot compare this place to 5star hotels.

Free breakfast daily, served at the exact time you want. Free massage daily.
Spacious room, with TV, refrigerator, and phone. Spacious closet. Hot/cold rain shower and bath with glass sliding door. Pool in the back of the hotel. Strong wifi in common spaces (bring your own hotspot if you want to work in your room). Very clean.

A good place to be alone, write, and get some serious work done.

Very pleasant staff. Goes out of your way to accommodate requests, for example, early breakfast.

Secure. Guarded gate. Spacious parking inside gate, good for SUV size vehicles.

Very quiet. A little over a kilometer from the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway. I slept straight through the night for the first time in a long time. Very well rested despite hectic work schedule.

Very near city center. Easy to find. From Tagaytay Rotonda, turn right when you see Balay Dako on the left and Magallanes Hotel on the right. From Skyranch theme park, turn left.

Room Tip: Room 206 was great.

Not much else to ask for from this unassuming and greatly staffed, off the beaten path truly wonderful hotel. Everyone on the staff here was nice, friendly and truly wanted to help. The facilities were well maintained and modern. It is far from the main roads to make it quiet and peaceful but close enough to a few hotspots. This will be my go to place when going to Tagaytay.
