The Lake Hotel Tagaytay

We stayed here just for 1 night and would love to come back. Our room was in the ground floor and I felt that my kids are very safe.. Eventhough, the room was small (Standard), it was very cozy. Staff were all friendly. Our room didn't exactly have the view of the lake, the veranda is still a nice spot to stay... The beds, sheets and restroom are all clean. However, when we were about to check out, a group of visitors entered the room. Their key card also worked in our room, but apparently they stay just beside our room. I also read from one of their reviews that they've been having problems with their key cards. Good thing this happened in the morning and not when all of us were asleep.

Stayed here for 1 night and I would say the room is clean although the bathroom looks a bit old but clean too. What I liked most about the hotel is its location. It is close to a lot of restaurants and coffee shops. What I didn't like about our experience in the hotel was during breakfast. We came to the cafe at around 9am and it was full since it's small. My husband gave the breakfast coupon to the staff and the staff didn't escort us to any table nor did she tell us to wait for an available table. We had to ask for our table and in turn she asked us if there weren't any table outside. Then she saw a long table with 4 people, asked us if we were willing to share. We had to tell her that she has to ask those people first. When the people agreed to share the table, we got our food and we still had to ask for them to put utensils and water on our table. The taste of the food was just okay.
I wrote this experience on their comment sheet and their manager sent me a text message saying their f&b manager is investigating the issue. They offered a 50% room discount and free upgrade on my next booking at their hotel.

Stayed with my husband, parents and siblings over the weekend and enjoyed our stay here.

Room rates are inclusive of buffet breakfast and wifi. Even the lobby has fast internet.

The staff are friendly, and for some reason they upgraded our rooms. We were very grateful. The hotel has a nice view of Taal Lake and Volcano, and is also walking distance from points of interest in Tagaytay such as Leslie's, Starbucks and a massage salon (Ayutthaya I think).

It's an understated hotel, but we would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Taal Lake and Volcano :)

Only stayed here one night on a stop in Tagaytay but provided you have a car this is a convenient place to stop, sort of in the middle of the stretch of restaurants and hotels across town. There is quite a lot of construction around the hotel at the moment which takes away from the look of the hotel and makes the car park small so getting in an out was a bit of a nuisance.

There are great views from the garden of this place (when the mist isn’t hiding everything), the garden is a good size and there’s a semi-covered pool although it was too cold to swim in October.

The standard room we had was in the basement and is quite dark with no view. It had a queen bed and single bed which was a bit squishy given the size of the room. The bathroom was big with a decent shower.

Unfortunately the noise from other rooms travels through quite easily so we were disturbed by a group in another room that were quite loud. With that and the construction noise it wasn’t the best night’s sleep.

Room Tip: Level 1 or 2 to get a view. The basement rooms are dark.

A lot of options in this town, for the price paid, Lake Hotel is just okay. Rooms were clean and well appointed but unusually small. Balconies are nice, but given that my group had purchased 4 rooms for the night, I guess I would've expected at least one of them to have a "spectacular" view of the lake and instead, while we had a balcony room, you strained your neck to look around the corner of the building to actually see anything. Typical as with any part of the country, service was provided with a smile but not necessarily with genuineness. All in all, for the price paid and with so many options, I will continue to explore other options in this town versus staying here again.

We want to close the long weekend vacation with an out of town trip without going too far so we decided to go to Tagaytay. Went over tripadvisor and the best option after weighing everything is The Lake Hotel along Aguinaldo Highway.

Paid for our standard room using Hotel.com.

Arrived at around 6pm, we were surprised there's some construction going on, specifically on the facade of their anchor restaurant Steaktown. It seems they're building a basement parking. For those who will be going to Lake Hotel this period, don't expect to have a picture taken at the hotel entrance since it would not be a good view.

Construction notwithstanding, the check-in was a breeze. The front desk is at the ground floor left side beside the bar and the swimming pool area where the view is outstanding! (even if it's already too dark when we arrived).

Room tip: If you want a good view, don't take a standard room, all of them are located at the basement area (all room number 1's). You won't have any except what they call a "pocket garden". Even those on the ground floor (room number 2's) won't have a good enough view. To have a good view, go for a higher floor (room 3's and up).

Anyway, even without the view, the room was clean, the beds were OK and the wi-fi signal was quite good.

The kids were expecting to have a swim in the morning but even though they have a pool it wasn't heated and with the cold wind in Tagaytay all they were able to do was have a quick dip and then went straight to our room to have a hot shower.

Pool tip: Don't bother unless the hotel do something to have it heated. The kids might catch a cold or something.

The buffet breakfast (which was part of the room package) was good with wide choices of typical Filipino fare. My only complaint? Since we are in Tagaytay, I was expecting that they will have tawilis in the line-up. All in all, it was good especially the beef steak Tagalog.

Check-out was also OK. Service was really good. All the staff are courteous and ready to help.

Will we go back? Sure but this time on a higher floor.

Room Tip: Higher floors, rooms with corner balconies, facing Taal Lake

The last time I was in Tagaytay, the accomodations looks amateurish, like a backyard industry, either the rooms look dated and smell musty, or it is just like an upgraded room in your home , made rustic looking with yards and yards to tulle curtain around n antique looking bed Thus, I was surprise when we checked in the Lake Hotel, it got a mini pool, the the place looks classy, the rooms were nice , modern , clean and outfitted with real comfy double beds, so it could sleep 4 comfortably. It was a true hotel experience unlike previous ones which feels like hostel / inn type accomodation. The place is relatively new , less than two years old . This place is easy to find, as it s along the highway, it is near Robinson Mall. And the hotel got its own attached steakhouse. I would consider returning to Lake Hotel next time I drop in Tagaytay. Nice surprise indeed.

Room Tip: Get a room that faces the Taal Lake for a breathtaking view every time you wake up.
