“just made me more tired”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

Christmas of 2009, my mom and I planned to go on a short vacation in Tagaytay. We planned to go to almost every tourist spots there that's why we decided to stay in this hotel for 2 nights so we could enjoy the place more since we only used public transportation. I was not expecting anything fancy but i was also not expecting to be this dismayed. The place is very far from civilization (which made us so tired travelling), the room smells old, the air-condition is not working, the bathroom is not that clean, the breakfast is uhhmm, I think okay. Public Transportation is not that accessible as well. Yes it is located on the main road but PUVs are out of sight. I wished we never went there and just stayed at home. I think I will enjoy it more (reception of TV Channels are clearer in our house) since what we did in the hotel is just the same, stayed there most of the time because we got tired travelling. I would recommend this hotel if this is the only hotel you can see and you needed a place to stay. But if you have a choice, better check-in on the other hotel.

The room is big but it's really not that clean. No complimentary bathroom stuff (eg. toothpaste, soap, etc). The room is smelly. The furniture smells like cockroach. There are also a lot of insects since it's grassy beside this hotel.

My girlfriend and I booked here because we will be attending a wedding in Tagaytay. We even recommended this to our friends but we felt so embarrassed after what our friends experienced.

The first room was kinda big, but the water faucet is not working. The TV isn't working either. The second room had a faulty CR which resulted to "flooding" right outside the CR which resulted to an ankle-high water. My friend complained and asked to be transferred to another room but the staff insisted that they pay first. They have not even slept on the room yet! They just left their things the afternoon then left for the event then back during the night.

Morning came when we will have our breakfast. It took almost an HOUR to serve our breakfast. And when it came, the food was already very cold. :( The one serving was I think one of the owners because a family portrait is displayed in the restaurant. He was serving us for a time and was very polite not until my friend ask for a glass of water because it was not initially served. The owner had this pissed off look then said "we have a water dispenser you may get one there." I mean even if you are the owner, you wouldn't to that to your customers.

It was really a disappointment. There are better economical hotels in Tagaytay. So I wouldn't recommend this.

Room Tip: All rooms are terrible. Be it Sunset view or Taal view.

I f you don't mind sacrificing some luxury for low price this place is a perfect place to stay. Very kind staff. The wifi was broken when we went there but they (presumably the owner) took the time to lend a pocket wifi. :)

Room Tip: Choose a room at higher floors.

We arrived 2pm and was accommodated immediately and we were led to our room. However, I believe there is some confusion as there is a huge "Happy Birthday" sign above the headboard.

Later on, we received a message if we are the ones who requested the said sign. When i replied with no, they politely asked what time we will return to the hotel. I appreciate their honestly and how they value their clients' privacy, that, instead of opening the room and getting the sign, they just left it there.

Got a text message in the morning asking for our preferred breakfast together with the available options. They were prompt in preparing the breakfast and when we came to the lobby, it was served in about 3 mins.

Checkout is a breeze, we opt to extend for an hour (only costs Php150.00 per hour) and paid for it and other incurred expenses upon checking out. They returned my ID in exchange for the keys, and that's it.

Overall, this is a good hotel if you want to just pause and relax from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Every hotel has pros and cons, for this particular hotel. The Pros overpowered the Cons.

Pros:

-Nice and very relaxing view from the Sunset View Room.
-Very accommodating staff.
-Extension beyond checkout time is available.
-Noise level (if any) is excellent.
-Relaxing atmosphere

Cons:
-Quite far from Tagaytay city proper (Transportation is available - you just have to wait for a few minutes).
-Rooms are dated.

Room Tip: A sunset view room gives you a really nice view of the mountains (not facing taal)

the room and cr is dirty and very smelly. everything smells like cockroach from pillow case, curtains to bathroom shower curtains. me and my family couldnt sleep in your room (room 203)

plus the CCPV promo is a scam. 2 coupon x 999 pesos = 1998. regular room rate is 2300. how can this be 57% savings?

The place could use a good scrubbing down and a fresh application of paint, but for its price, you wouldn't complain much. Its location is a bit of a letdown though, I think it took us 30 mins to get here from the Tagaytay we all know (where all the restaurants are).

The place was great budget wise.
For almost 2000 pesos, you get a nice room, a REALLY Big bed with nice comforters and pillows,dresser/cabinet and a clean bathroom.
Downside of the room? we ave 3.
1) The TV is not working. I know we didnt stay for that, but seeing that it is in the room, we were expecting it to be working and not just have static then go black on you... anyways..
2) The bed, pillows, blanket/comforter smelled a little stuffy. You know, the smell when clothes are stored for a very long time, or stored still a little wet? thats what i mean, but anyways, it was bearable and it was comfortable so no biggie..
3) The heater cant cope up with coldness of the water. if you turn it on,, it'll take a while (a lon while) for the water to warm up. living in the cavite higlands, i dont mind the cold, but after going to the spa, youd want some warm water for your bath...

The place is far from Tagaytay's center, but its quiet and relaxing. You can go to Sonya's Garden for a relaxing Spa/Massage since its really close (had our Spa/Massage there).
Monte Maria and Calaruega are also close, but a few minutes drive/commute.

The place has a homely feel to it, and we liked the overall look and feel of the place (the hallways and balcony looked nice too).

All in all, it was a great stay. if your on a budget, MC Mountain is definitely a great choice.

Oh, last one, a tip for those with vehicles.
If your not confident with your uphill driving skills, or your vehicle cant go up steep inclines, DONT PARK INSIDE. Better park near the lobby/entrance. Why? because the driveway going inside is very, very steep.
