“Deteriorating standard”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

I used to look forward to having Sunday buffets at Josephine's during my younger days but stopped frequenting the place for quite sometime when newer restaurants mushroomed in the area. Last Sunday, I went back with my daughters to Josephine's, anticipating that they will have the same grilled items for their lunch buffet, the way they used to. But, the quality, the quantity and the variety of their buffet spread was a total disappointment. The only grilled items that they had were: tilapia plus pork chop and pork kebab that tasted flat The other dishes on the buffet table included just ordinary tasting kare-kare, Thai chicken ,pancit ,steamed vegetables, cabbage salad, garlic rice and plain rice. The dessert included: halo-halo, sago't gulaman, leche plan, matamis na saging, gulaman and some local fruits (pakwan, pineapple, papaya).
For the buffet price of P495/head (with a discount of P100 for no left-over), I still would consider it a rip-off. Understandably, Josephine's cannot compete with the lower priced restos in the area but it will have to retain its former standard of excellence if it wants to retain its old clientele.

“Not as advertised”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Felt cheated. Went there for their lunch buffet. As per advertised picture, were expecting shrimps (sugpo) and grilled squid. Nada. The selection was bad. No beef, just grilled pork chop and tilapia. The soup was never replenished. Not a good showcase of Filipino food to foreign friends.

“Overrated”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

My boyfriend and I had lunch here and fortunately, it was not that jam-packed when we arrived. No staff greeted us so we, ourselves, have to approach them for us to be able to be seated. The usherette asked where we prefer to sit and because we like to have some view of the Taal Lake, we opted for the outdoor dining.

When we were already seated, I noticed that my place is not-so-presentable. It has some black marks on it so we asked the waitstaff to replace it. It took around 20 minutes before our foods were served. NO GLASS OF WATER. We had Pork Sisig, Josephine's Fried Chicken, 3 orders of rice, Iced Tea, Cranberry Coolers and Halo-Halo Espesyal. The waiter who took us order DIDN'T repeat our order which must be a standard on order-taking. He also didn't mention that the 1 order of rice is already good for 2 persons so imagine our surprise when there were 3 platters of steamed rice served to us. We thought it was on a cup-basis. Oh well. Fortunately, one of the waiter said he'll just cancel the 1 order or rice because of the miscommunication.

While waiting for our food, we noticed this man on nearby table with his family trying to get the attention of the waitstaff for their orders. This lady food attendant and 1 waiter already noticed the guest but instead of assisting him, They OBVIOUSLY AND COMPLETELY IGNORED him as if they don't see anything. This was VERY RUDE, if I may say. Bad customer service. Good thing the man didn't complained and some staff attended to him afterwards.

About the food, I can say it's just ok. Nothing really special.

When we asked for the bill, it took us about 30 minutes of waiting because of the mistake on the food items on the receipt.

Fantastic view and atmosphere but aside from that, nothing to rave about.

“Bad service....”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

Arrived here past 9am and I know that breakfast will finish by 10am..While eating the waiter approached us that we have to get our food as much we could because they're going to clean their buffet set up. What the hell!!! Is this really how it was? So we have to eat fast in order to get the food that we wanted to eat? This is really disappointing?!!!! And then if we have left over they're going to charge us- it should be cleaned plate as per the policy...unbelievable! !!! Im not recommending this resto!!! Never!!!!

“Sweet Place, Bitter Service, Dull Food Presentation and Dry Food”
Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

We tried this resto August 12, 2013 around 1:10pm. We were greeted with warmth by the receptionist. The place has this hotel lobby feel, i can say that its an elegant atmosphere for a restaurant. But what's not elegant is the long wait for the food. Servers are not smiling and when the food were served its not presentable at all. Our josephine's soup bowl were dirty when served. I even have a picture of it. The samut saring sinugba were also dry.. Super dry Mang Inasal's chicken was even better.. And the fried rice with crabmeat was below average. Terrible dining experience. Highly recommendable for your enemies
