I was really impressed by the service with Su. Indeed it is amazing. We missed booking this hotel and ended up with a different hotel. But Su was not upset with us at all, and still helped us booked our flights to and off Bagan--while the other hotel did not. I had pleasant experience with Su at Amazing Bagan Resort, and really look forward to staying at this place later.
Thank you very much Su.

Nice rooms, spacious and clean and good service and facilities.
The food in the restaurant did not reflect the overall quality of the hotel and was a little disappointing.
We would advise to eat in one of the nearby restaurants, i.e. the starbeam bistro which offers excellent food for a low price.

OK, Bagan is not so touristy and you dont have plenty of options for accomodation nor for restaurants. Amazing Bagan is a stroll away from main attractions but I think it is a wise choice for travelers.
First, it is undeniable: a swimming pool in Bagan is a must!! Given the heat of the temples, you'll appreciate to relax at the pool, with good prices for drinks during happy hours.
Second, rooms are comfortable, not a 5 star but good enough to enjoy.
Third, atmosphere is pleasant, with some shows at night for dinner. Prices are expensive though, I would recommend to go straight outside the hotel to the main road, you'll see some small buildings with some cheaper rstaurants. I tried the hotel food, they have good local food as well but too pricy. Breakfast is yummy with a large selection of asian and western food.

Something I liked: you can borrow bikes for free. Riding a bike is an AMAZING experience in Bagan!

During my pre-paid tour in Myanmar, this was the best hotel I stayed at.

This hotel is close to the airport, about 5 to 7 minutes by car. Old Bagan is about 12 minutes by car. Nearby street with restaurants and shops is a good 18 minutes pleasant walk but you could go there much faster by the free bicycles that hotel provides.
Location is very quite and surrounded by beautiful green woody area. The garden surrounding the hotel building is beautiful and well maintained. For Golfers, there is a beautiful Golf Course.

The main lobby is nicely decorated. The check-in was fast and uneventful. The bell boy took my luggage to the room on the second floor. There was no elevator. The room was spacious and had wooden floors. The bathroom had all the toiletries and it was clean and well kept. The A/C worked well. There was a mini-bar which I did not use. Two bottles of water were provided. Turned-down service was also provided.

There is a swimming pool in the hotel and a Spa which actually is a converted hotel room with two massage beds. The massage was pricey by Myanmar's standard.

The hotel restaurant was bit expensive so I did not dine there. The breakfast is served in the dining area behind the main lobby and is over looking the garden. Very pleasant. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a lot of items. The eggs were cooked fesh as requested.

Some may find this hotel bit far for site seeing without a car.

I woiuld definitely stay here if I came back to Bagan.

We booked a suite bungalow at the Amazing Bagan Resort for a 3-night stay during a tour around Burma in February in bungalow. We booked directly with the hotel via their website and had a good dialogue in advance of our visit. Payment was collected during our stay at our previous hotel in Yangon (see my review of the Savoy Hotel). As with a number of hotels in Burma, we had to bring payment in pristine new American dollars as many hotels do not accept credit cards and there are very few ATMs in the country (also no mobile phone reception). We also booked the transfer from the airport which turned out to be a smart people carrier with A/C. We had an efficient check-in, with all staff very helpful although a female member of reception staff was a bit ‘frosty’ although this could be the fact that she was dealing with public all day! Reception were very helpful in booking taxis.

We were allocated bungalow 414. It was an excellent bungalow, close to the swimming pool but secluded with privacy, it had lots of space and also in-room WiFi although this is slow and intermittent not fault of hotel it is the same across Burma. Our room had a good bathroom with plenty of towels, hot water and a step-down shower and bath. The hotel has beautiful grounds, lush with immaculate gardens and a lovely big pool with plenty of chairs around the edge. There is a turn-down service at night and the staff also sprayed the room for mosquitoes at the same time. We took advantage of the same-day laundry service, which returned our clothes washed and ironed in plastic sleeves - looking like new - the same day!

The golf club next to the hotel is not in the best of states, with no Pro. shop and a fairly flat course.

Breakfast was good with fresh and cooked food plus pancakes and eggs cooked fresh to order. The breakfast area (and also lunch area) are in lovely setting outside and there is even live music in the morning. The slight downside is that it is only served up to 9.00am perhaps 10am would be better for occasional later starts as people are on holiday after all.
We ate in one one evening and had a good meal although it is not cheap. We preferred to eat out in Old Bagan and in particular had two good meals at Sarabha 2 restaurant next to the Tharabar Gate - great value and authentic local food.

A slight negative to the hotel is its location in that it is outside of the interesting Old Bagan - and you will need a taxi (or bikes which the hotel provides for free) to reach town (taxis are cheap and the roads not great or particularly safe for cycling). During our stay we booked a driver for the day and were fortunate to meet Aung Sann. He is an excellent driver and guide and we never missed or lost him while he wore his red Ferrari baseball cap! He took us to all the places we wanted to go and also suggested other interesting temples we would have missed without his advice. He was very reliable so we hired him for both days and even to take us back to the airport when we left. His rates are very reasonable and it was nice to be able to talk about Burma and have a local perspective - ask the hotel to telephone Aung Sann on 09-402510223 for a great guide.

To summarise, Amazing Bagan Hotel is a beautiful oasis and with it’s pool is a lovely place to relax, so maybe consider adding an extra day to your itinerary to recharge batteries in between all the sight-seeing. If we ever go back to Burma we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Bungalow 414 has plenty of privacy but a beautiful view over the gardens, towards the pool.
