Positive : local guides are really informative, the staffs keep the place still clean

There aren't many cities in the world that are on the equator,Pontianak is one of them,so this is probably a must do thing when visiting the area.It is an opportunity to stand at 0' degrees latitude,so at least i can say i have done that, although I heard that the actual equator is in the river behind the monument,& you wouldnt want to go in that!
The actual monument seems to be placed in a car park next to a busy road & looked a tired place, afew things to look at inside, the water machine to show the different direction of water when in the southern hemisphere didnt work,(no surprise really),& a guest book to sign. The supposed line of the equator is marked by a row of green tiles through the centre of the building,& outside there is a gift shop of sorts, selling cheap souvenirs.
The area looked tired & shabby,i presume money is an issue, but surely something better could be done with such an important landmark.

Equator Monument perhaps the most important place that travelers must be visit, because some people say that you don't visit Pontianak if you don't visit the monument.

Very nice places. It's equoatoor, 0......
The only one in the world. Better you bring a hat or umbrella when you are in Pontianak. This area is so hot. There's no entrance ticket when you are here, the officer will talk with a mic when you are inside, that's not mean they asked you for money, all is free. Just sign guest book and after that you can walk around, indoor are not big, only 200 sqm. an orgiinal monument is inside, you can read the history in there.
Dont forget to buy a dummy monument, inside the monument only 40k IDR, outside at the souvenir shop it's 75k IDR. Just help the empolyee inside by buy a soft drink, such as coke, water, etc. price is reasonable.
Try to visit this monument, have a good time.
