“Stay Experience”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Its a very good hotel with good services, the rooms are clean and the location of the hotel is centralized for the tourist wanting to visit The Dargah Sharif and Pushkar,

The staff was very cooperative and hospitable and the size of the rooms is also nice according to the nominal price they charge.

I totally recommend this hotel for your stay in Ajmer.

Hotels like this are the bane of tourism in India. Not only was the booking experience an unnecessarily long drawn out one, but the experience right from the pick-up through to the check out was simply horrible.

The 'complimentary' pickup vehicle was in a dilapidated condition, had starting issues and threatened to fall apart at every bump in the road!

The room was smelly and we had to get room freshener sprayed. We later realised that the smell was due to seepage and resulting fungus on the walls near the bathroom and also from the drainage system that may not have been cleaned for a loooong time! Did not insist on a change of rooms since we were leaving the same evening but any self respecting hotel should not let out such rooms to travelers.

We had availed of the 'travel desk' services which was basically the owner/ GM - Prashant - who did the bookings. The cab provided through a 'Sanjay Taxi services' was driven by a boy who looked straight out of school but since it was arranged by the hotel who we believe would have reasonably good tie ups with cabbies in the area we went ahead with the same. The driver promptly got the cab stuck in sand in the Pushkar area! To cut a long story short, not one - not the hotel nor the cab agency - seemed to be bothered about an aged person stuck in the desert in the blazing mid-April sun. In fact though we cancelled the cab after reaching back to the hotel immediately after the experience, the hotel insisted on charging whole day fare. This is absolutely ridiculous! After a few iterations they reduced the amount by a paltry sum blaming Sanjay Taxi services for being recalcitrant. The only thing that Prashant had to say was that "We'll stop using Sanjay Taxi Services in the future"! Great vendor management! Anyhow, the cab requested for drop off to the station that night was again from Sanjay Taxi Services though we explicitly instructed against using them for our requirements. Very shady place and services.

Would not recommend a place that does not understand what customer service is about and looks at cutting corners to make an extra buck at the customers expense.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel!!

Dear Sir

It is really unfortunate that your experience with the hotel was an unpleasant one and I would like to take this opportunity to respond to the issues raised by you.

- You mentioned that the booking process was "an unnecessary long drawn out one". I must tell you that we have a facility of booking online on our hotel website which is a simple process of providing you card details to get an instant confirmation. However, you chose not to book on the website but to email us. The first email was sent to us on 21 Mar'12 and we replied to you with rates and details within 24 hrs of receiving that email. This usually does not take that long but since you wanted a quote for the cab that we had to take from an outside agency, it took this long. Also, you requested for my personal mobile no. to be in constant touch with me, not to mention that some of your queries came to us even at 10 pm but we still responded to them straightaway. A facility, clearly even the best hotels would not offer.

- The complimentary pick-up vehicle was a Maruti Omni that we have been providing to our guests and we have never had such complaints. The statement that "it threatened to fall apart with every bump" is clearly a glorified exaggeration.

- The room is recently renovated and does not have fungus on the walls. Even then if you were unsatisfied with it, it should have been communication to the duty manager/reception and we would have promptly changed your room. Unfortunately you chose a public platform to point out the issues which were either not there or communicated during your stay.

- Your comments on the taxi driver about him being out of the school is totally unjustified as he holds a valid driving license and would be unfair to judge someone on their appearance. You did communicate your displeasure with the service and how the taxi got stuck in the sand. However in his defense he said he was being directed by you to drive on a certain route. Anyway, without giving heed to his explanation we immediately contacted the taxi person and waived off half of the amount that was to be paid by you for the taxi as you were not satisfied with their service. It was by no means our intention to have our guests suffer in the scorching heat. It was an unfortunate incident for which we apologised immediately and did not charge you for the Pushkar part of the trip. The taxi service that we used was a reliable one and we have been using them for the past 3 years for all our guests and we've never had any complains apart from this particular incident.

Overall, we do agree that you had problems with the taxi service which we did try, in all our capacity to rectify. However, some of you comments regarding the booking process/rooms etc were not present at the time of your check-out and seem to have originated out of the blue which even surprised us.

We are committed in providing our guest the best hospitality experience and we still sincerely apologise for the unfortunate experience that you had on you short visit.

Best Regards

We stayed in a Super Deluxe room at the hotel. I was happy to see the neatness & cleanliness of the room. The staffs here were also nice. On request they helped us arrange a visit to the Dargah.
The restaurant here has a very good ambience. Even the food served here has good variety and taste.
Overall I was happy to select this hotel.

Not very clean but compared to the rest of the hotels in Ajmer, we were glad to have picked this one.The hotel has a very nice rooftop restaurant and great food too! Friendly staff, especially at the restaurant. One of the better hotels in Ajmer compared to others. But the staff at the reception hauled a taxi for us when we were leaving and even though we had told them we were going to the Bus Stand, had instructed the taxi guy to take us to the Railway station which wasted a lot of our time and money. Apart from that, average quality of stay.

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for choosing to write a review about Hotel Ambassador. I am glad to hear your positive comments about the hotel and the restaurant 'Ambrosia', and have taken into account the negatives that you faced during your stay. I will take the cleanliness matter with the house-keeping dept. and make sure that such things are not experienced by any guests. I also apologise for the mis-communication with the front desk who booked the cab for Railway Station instead of Bus Stand. We would be happy to pay back the extra amount paid by you due to this. Kindly drop us the details on ambassadorhotelajmer@yahoo.com. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

On our recent trip to Ajmer, we stayed at Ambassador hotel last month. This is certainly the best hotel to stay in Ajmer. The rooms are clean, hygienic. The staff is courteous, friendly and the service is always great.

We specially liked its rooftop restaurant - Ambrosia for its ambiance and great food. We will certainly recommend this hotel to all my friends visiting Ajmer.
