“Lovely location and grounds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2008

We stayed one night in the Kiboko cottage and it was lovely. Well equipped room with a good shower, nice beds and good food. We took the tour of the plantation and the young man was knowledgeable and it was an interesting tour. There were several large tour groups with loud people, but that cannot be helped! More buffet food, and would have liked some sit down choices instead of buffet. The morning buffet had a large number of people waiting at the egg station, so we just gave up on that choice. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff and adequate internet for USD5 for 35 minutes. Nice pool, but it was a bit too chilly for that! It is 30+ minutes to the crater.

We were really disappointed when we learnt from our travel agent that the Serena and Sopa lodges at Ngorongoro were sold
out. He suggested the Ngorongoro Farm House. We said ok after checking out reviews on Tripadvisot. But quite honestly, we didn't know what to expect.

We moved to the Farm House after a stay at Arusha Coffee lodge, Trangire Sopa Lodge and then the Serengeti Sopa Lodge. I must say the Farm House beat them all. It was simply superb. The rooms, the location, the food, the service... we were truly delighted.

The salads at the Nogrongoro Farm House are to die for. Overall the quality of food is really good.

The only downside was that the rooms were very far from the main building and the dining area. But, after stuffing ourselves at dinner, we were happy to walk.

Would recommend the Farm House as the best option in Ngorongoro.

The only complaint I have about Ngorongoro Farm House is the thin walls, your neighbor might as well be in the same room. Fortunately everybody there is probably leaving on an early morning safari so there wont be many late nighters. Other than that the rooms are very spacious and nice. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food was also above average, and internet access was inexpensive.

This is a beautiful and tranquil lodge situated in the coffee fields just outside the crater. Hospitality was excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and incredibly spacious.Food was good. If weather is permitting it you can also enjoy the pool and relax on the veranda with view on the crater rim..

We loved the farm house! First, the setting was so beautiful and peaceful. The rooms were fantastic--super comfortable beds, fireplaces, high ceilings, nice furniture to relax in. It was much better than I had expected for the price. I also like that the guides are treated well and are able to sit with you for meals. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

WOW! This place is unbelievable. Of course it was our final place to stay after a 3 week mission in the bush, sleeping on concrete floors...but honesty, it is the most fabulous place I've ever stayed, regardless. The rooms are separate and private. The views are breathtaking. We stayed in the mbogo room with comfortable canopy beds and a beautifully designed bathroom area and large living seating area. The restaurant is good. Dinner was really good and there was plenty of it. Breakfast was also diverse and plentiful. The lodge where the dining and lounge areas are is African is the perfect place to rejuvenate after a day of safari. Live music, terrific furniture, exceptional ambiance. The grounds of this place are truly what take it over the top. A coffee plantation that you can walk through, the most gorgeous exotic flowers, everywhere and vegetables that they grow on site that are served all throughout the meals. You will not be disappointed unless you are one of those hard-to-please travelers. It's Africa for goodness sake! So, you won't find a Ritz Carlton down the street...but this place is unparalleled! Enjoy!!

An okay place to stay for a couple of nights.

Pros:
-- Very helpful staff
-- Beautiful environs
-- Good food
-- Love the fact that guides can eat with us at all meals
-- Very beautiful rooms, minimalist style furnishing, but very nice bathrooms

Cons:
-- It's far from Ngorongoro Crater (30 min drive)
-- There are BATS in the roof! I couldn't sleep all night with the comings and goings of the bats!
-- Some of the rooms are really far away from the reception so it's quite a hike to dinner/reception and back.
-- NO telephones in the rooms to directly dial out.
-- Internet was very expensive ($10 for 30 mins)
