this is a lovely lodge set in a plantation with lush gardens and a magical view. whichever direction you are coming from on the northern circuit it makes a lovely luxurious stop. the rooms were huge- we booked two so that our children had their own vast space which they didn't really need !the rooms have a verandah and a fireplace with a lounge area so it was a shame we couldn't stay for longer really.... the bathrooms were large and the bath rather shocking in the circumstances where water is so precious ( can't imagine anyone filling them they were almost a pool) but the views and the verandah were gorgeous. the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good. the pool was lovely and the peace was welcome. highly recommended.

After staying in some very basic accomodation during safari, we were thrilled to arrive at the Farmhouse and enjoy everything it had to offer. The staff were VERY friendly and couldnt do enough to make us feel welcome. We were blown away by how pretty the rooms were, comfy beds, hot showers and even an option of having a fire in your room.

The property itself was beautiful! The gardens and their own fresh produce were amazing, and the property was perfectly upkept. The food was great, lots of options for everyone, and the service was very friendly.

I would highly suggest this property for anyone traveling through Ngororngoro and my only FYI would be that it is about a 1 hour drive to the actual crater from the property. We didnt mind this but it is good to be aware of.

The only disappointment with our stay was that it was too short at just one night. Be sure to book at least two nights so you can enjoy the grounds and the pool and the views. Rooms (separate villas scattered throughout the grounds with lots of quiet and privacy) are enormous. We had two rooms for our family of five but could have all been in one triple room. Food and service were excellent including a few minutes of Internet access to send messages home. This feels like a resort so is a little busier than the smaller intimate places we stayed but the facilities, setting and service made it a great experience.

The Ngorongoro Farm House is set amongst a working farm. It is remote and very quiet. The staff meet you upon arrival with a welcoming glass of fruit juice. They are very formal and professional in the performance of the duties.
This is a very nice place and the cost is probably in line with other fancy hotels. Our itinerary listed it at $333 US/night for a double room. They do however nickel and dime you, charging for farm tours and other activities and $5 US per ½ hour use of the internet. We were not charged anywhere else in Africa for use of the internet.
The room we had is absolutely huge. I paced off the dimensions and found it to be equal in size to the foot print of an average home in our city. The rooms are well maintained and very clean. The bed was very comfortable.
Dinner which was included was excellent, a set menu with a choice of main dishes. A four course meal is far too much food and I had to pick and choose what I ate. My wife has some food intolerances and these were addressed. She had a dinner modified to suit her needs. This was truly a touch of class.
We do not normally stay in such fancy hotels but if we decided to splurge I would stay here again.

My husband and I visited Tanzania in February, 2012, for our honeymoon. We were booked in the Ngorongoro Farmhouse by Leopard tour operators. We were initially a bit disappointed because could not afford to stay in the posh Serena or Sopa lodges, however, this place was a brilliant find! We stayed there for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel offers some spectacular views and it has the most lovely vegetable garden. When we checked in we were given an upgrade as we were a honeymooning couple and that really made the stay more special. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent (the best we had during the trip). Lots of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The rooms are nice and spacious but they are fairly basic and not very luxurious. It is more like a guesthouse than a hotel room. The whole place is very quaint and cozy. Though we did subsequently stay in the Sopa lodges in Tanzania, it is the Ngorongoro Farmhouse which turned out to be the most memorable.
