How does a person research and decide on a safari company? I tried to recall my research and what lead us choose Bantu pori journeys for our trip. One of the main reasons for choosing them was the private tour concept and what the reviews shared about this.

We were going as a family and wanted it to be us sharing and not “making friends” or someone dictating our trip with their limitations.

Second reason was chatting and emailing with the founder himself (Barak) and setting up our vacation. Barak was available online anytime and no question was left unanswered. Thought that may just be the sales gimmick but soon decided it was for real.

Well, we can’t say how wonderful he and his team was for us and to us. Our superb 8 days safari was simply wonderful. It started from the moment we landed at the airport in Kilimanjaro where we were met by Barak himself and his driver. You should choose BPJ for this perk alone. The next thing we knew we were in the van and headed for our hotel in Moshi town.

The accommodations were just wonderful and our schedule was explained very clearly for the time in Moshi by Fred our designated driver guide. Our hotel staff at weru river lodge couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive.

The next day we depart to the Tarangire Park, with our fabulous driver guide, Fred. We had an instant connection with Fred and that grew throughout our safari. Then we moved on to Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and finally 4 days in the Serengeti…which was the main focus of this trip. WE LOVED IT!!

Our guide, Fred, was unbelievable in spotting animals long before we were able to see them. We had a carefree and comfortable relationship with Fred and knew right away we were going to have a wonderful time together. Not only did Fred know the names of all the animals we saw, he had a knowledge of them that was like we just Goggled them. Our animal knowledge gained from Fred only made us love our experience more and increased our love of the parks.

Our accommodations were fantastic and the Tanzanian people were so gracious and welcoming at each camp and lodge. We choose the Economy level safari. We knew we would have tent camps. Frightening? Well our tent camps were fantastic. No roughing it here. Our tent camps were really an upgrade from what normally would be imagine. Full private bathrooms, great beds and furniture, patios all the amenities of a great hotel. It was so easy staying each night at our accommodations.

The food was very good. Our evening suppers gave us a chance to meet the workers and enjoy our guide on a social level. We were the center of attention. Our every need was anticipated and met. We sure enjoyed our time with the Tanzanian people. We only hope we left them feeling appreciated, special and loved by us.

Truly a trip of a life time and we believe BPJ was the main reason for this.

They deliver what they advertise with great panache. You choosing them will be the best thing you can do.

The rim area is lush green forest due to the daily morning fog (which can make for limited views into the crater). The crater floor is brown and dusty. We did see many different kinds of animals (lions, hippos, gnus, zebras, elephants, jackels, warthogs, buffalo, baboons, vervet monkeys, and birds). However, I expected more animals. The picnic area did have wifi.

We had great experiences at the Olduvai Gorge museum, a crater rim walk with a ranger, a night at a tented camp in the heart of the conservation area and a drive through the crater even with a black rhino sighting (although in the distance).

This is very beautiful and an excellent opportunity to see a concentration of animals and birds throughout the crater floor.

Ngorongoro did not disappoint. Saw an unbelievable large amount of wildebeest and gazelle/ impala. Elephant, warthog, hippo, a large pride of lion, and the famous black rhino! Beautiful area, the views and scenery are stunning.
