We have spent one night at Neptune in August 2019. To start with the positive things: great location to go to the Ngorogoro gate, great food (probably the best we had in Tanzania, also the healthy choice for breakfast was most appreciated), most of the staff is well trained and speaks English very well and the rooms are enormous and have a great view. Because of all these great things it is a pity that the rooms start to look a bit ran down. As others have mentioned, the curtains and furniture have nasty stains, our bathroom walls had mold spots, the mosquito nets did smell quite dusty, .... Also, we had a flashlight in our room that did not work. With a bit of TLC, this place could be great and deserve a 5 star rating but right now, it is not the case.

This is our second visit in 4 years to the Lodge. The villas are exceptionally large. While the bathrooms were serviceable, they need updating. The villas consisted of a large king with fireplace, and a separate living room with fireplace as well. Large outdoor porch for viewing into the valley, and we were happy to see the 4 -5 elephants we saw last time were back welcoming us to the crater. Staff and service was exceptional and food was very good. Grounds were superb as they were 4 years ago. Fully stocked bar, spa services, and a nice pool area. We choose to stay here again in part because of the close proximity to the Park gates. Less than 5 minutes. Overall a superb location and property.

True luxury with a fantastic greeting on arrival. Taken to comfortable chairs, with refreshing drink to complete the check-in process.
Food very good, with extra helpings for the younger party members with large appetites.
Rooms are very large - more a small cottage, with views over bush and in our case the chance to see Elephants grazing below.
We will be returning for more than 1 night.
