I had occasion to stay at this property in September 2013. As an agent, I was checking out properties I wanted to use for my next group. This property met the bill, not real high end, but also not real low in - a moderate property offering all the amenities of any high end luxury property. Rooms were very nice, accommodating and even had a hair drying which some of my guests frequently want. The ground are not gardens, it is in the bush after all, but the patio area was wonderful just to sit and watch the birds and the animals on Lake Masek which the property overlooks. My stay was wonderful, comfortable and plenty of 'night' action noises, which is a must have when sleeping in the bush in Africa, Tanzania to be precise.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great - and comfortable. In my opinion, one is not better than the other.

While not the most plush lodge we stayed at, it was our favorite. The setting was peaceful; we had our own tented camp (Hondohondo). We particulary enjoyed having our own "living room". The "room" had a sofa, chair and coffee table and was enclosed in the tent's own netting. It was just great to sit out there with a drink and look at the lake; serenity plus. The bed was nice, there was a "moon" shower (in other words, an outdoor shower), and a fabulous bathtub. We didn't want to leave this place.

The food was good, but the service was EXCELLENT. The staff remembered special requests from the day before...really, really wanted to make everyone happy. The staff member named Paul was Excellent plus...an asset to Masek.

Enoy!!

We were only due to stay at Lake Masek Tented Camp for one night and it definitely wasn't long enough. Having arrived late at night and due to leave early the next morning we were very disappointed to not have longer at this gorgeous venue. The staff were the friendliest we had in our 5 day safari and the food was incredible. The views were amazing and the tents were so well equipped. We hope to be back and enjoy this camp for a bit longer!

Stayed at this camp for two nights as part of an OAT tour. The service was impeccable, the food fresh and served buffet style, Staff was willing to make some special extras. Tents were large and well furnished. Bathroom included double wash sinks, a bath tub and indoor toilet (which was not curtained off from the rest of the tent (my only complaint). We could see the Lake and at night we were visited by hippos, dim-diks and other small antelope, There are numerous colorful birds,

Stayed here on an organized tour. The Camp is very nice and not what you would expect from a "Tented Camp." Really quite upscale.

We didn't spend much time in the tent or at the camp - it was quite a drive back and forth but very scenic. In the distance we could see hippos and flamingos.

Overall a very good experience.

Two days at Masek Tented Camp Ngorongoro were not enough. This is truly luxury "camping." Each large tent consists of covered front porch with comfortable wicker furniture and a large vase. The beds are huge (pushed together). There is a real tub, two sinks, mirrors and all the amenities. Plenty of lamps and fresh water in every room as well as a dresser, table and safe.

Wine and beer were complimentary. The food and service were excellent. The staff is Maasai.

In the vicinity, we saw male lions, cheetahs and in front of our tent hundreds of love birds. Also, saw the most wonderful sunsets.

This was by far the best place we stayed during our 7 day safari - can't find a negative thing to say about it!!!

Beautiful setting right on the lake, we arrived to watch buffalo and hippos by the lake. The welcome we received on arrival instantly made us feel at home, especially from Veronica the chef, who greeted all guests on arrival. At dinner she came to explain the dishes on offer which we assumed was buffet, however, all the dishes were bought to us in bowls at our table.

All tents are elevated and a nice size, with outdoor space. The communal area consisted of big outdoor area overlooking the lake which was great for watching the sunset, Indoor lounge area and dining area.

Unfortunately, we only had one night here!
