This hotel is mostly used by people who have booked their safari or the kili climb through Shah Tours. The hotel is owned by Shah Tours. It is a good value for money place and has all the basic amenities. The rooms are basic, spacious, not luxurious, the bathrooms primitive but functional. The rooms are very dimly lit; need more light. the service in the restaurant is super slow but then they cook or make every thing against an order. The Indian food is really excellent. Please note that the bar does not accept signatures on bills to be settled at check out. one has to pay cash as per use against the bill. This is good luxury for the size of town. The hotel is quite a distance from Moshi town and most of the time you have to hire the vehicle from the hotel to go to the town or airport. This is safer too. The people are really nice and helpful and the owners are always around to listen and attend to your issues. Overall a good place to begin your climb or your Safari. I did both and am very satisfied with the services. Everything went off well.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing the swimming pool as you can catch the wireless signal from the bar-restaura...

Dear Guest, many thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate the time you have given to write a detailed review. We are happy to know that you had a pleasant stay with us and that you felt it was a good luxury in comparison to the town size and enjoyed the Indian cuisine! The hotel is approximately 5-6 km away from Moshi town centre - away from the hustle and noise etc. We appreciate the feedback regarding the dim lighting, and we have now changed all our bulbs (to the much brighter ones) as well as added lamps in all rooms to make the room much lighter. None of our food off the a la carte menu is precooked / stored / refrigerated etc, it is freshly made from scratch therefore as noted in our menus it may take some time to prepare. The reason for this is so that there are never any issues of food poisoning, bad tummies the next morning etc. It is the last thing our guests need especially if they're heading off on tour the next day. On most days there are set menus for breakfast and dinner which do not take as long to prepare. We would love to have you back with us someday - karibuni (most welcome). Kind regards from all at Mountain Inn

Our stay at the Mountain Inn was very nice. The property was nicely maintained and the grounds well manicured, very pretty. The pool was clean and inviting. The rooms were large and clean and the staff was very friendly and accomodating.

We enjoyed the service, the quite nights for a relaxing sleep and the view of Kilimanjaro in the morning. Mountain Inn is one of the best choices you have in Moshi

Reasonable hotel, without air conditioning, shower box with dirty curtain, poor breakfast and meals, located ~5km far of Moshi where you need taxi to do anything, making you stand hostage of Mountain Inn services.
When I arrived in the hotel, the reception was done by a rude attendant which was more interested to dispatch me asap to my room than to clarify the tour package details.

The rooms are quite adequate by American standards. They seem luxurious when you get off the Kili climb. The lighting is a bit dimmer and the some of the electrical outlets didn't seem to work but all in all, the rooms were very good. The food served in the restaurant is excellent, though not fancy. The service at the restaurant and bar is also excellent.
The hotel general staff are very accommodating and friendly. The gift shop items for sale are a very good bargin.

Room Tip: The first night I was put into a 100 series room which was not as nice as the other rooms which seem...

I'd probably give this a 2 star rating anywhere else, but since it's in Moshi, I'll bump it up one. It's not a bad hotel, and it's ok for a night or two before or after your climb. They seem to have newer rooms in the garden by the pool, but we unfortunately got what seemed to be very outdated room, with no working fan, only one working outlet, lots of bugs, old beds, gross shower, etc. We asked enough times that they finally brought us a fan (after claiming they couldn't), so that helped things. There also wasn't much consideration into handing out rooms - they gave couples rooms with two twin beds, non-couples rooms with double beds, etc, and weren't receptive to requests to change. If you get one of the older rooms, be prepared for a lot of noise very early in the morning from the roosters and kitchen staff getting ready.

The food is pretty good, so a big plus there. And a nice beer selection. Can't comment on the pool since it wasn't filled. The staff is friendly but seems limited in its authority to actually fix anything without talking to the manager directly, who is almost never on site.

All in all, not bad for what it was, which was a place to sleep before and after a Kilimanjaro climb. Not the best, not the worst.

Room Tip: Rooms by the pool/garden seem newer and had fans.
