Mountain Inn was a great start and finish to the Kilimanjaro Trek. Shah Tours was the guide company that organized the expedition. Customer service was great on all accounts and the room comfortable. The food and pool area was enjoyable. I would recommend this for any Kili trek or just a place to lay your head while in Moshi.

Shah tours of Mountain Inn organized our Kilimanjaro trek and 2-day Safari. Overall we had a successful climb to the Mountain and a very comfortable Safari and stay. We were a group of 6 climbers from USA. We had a last minute change to our dates of arrival and climb and Shah tours was very accomodative. They arranged for a very good lodge stay duing Nrorongoro Safari.
For Kilimanajaro climb, the team of guides and porters was excellent. All 6 climbers were able to summit without any major issues. The head guide, Naftael, was understanding, accomodative and strict, to make sure we has a successful climb. He changed the camping location on way back to accomodate some slow climbers. Food (vegetarian) on the trek was mostly acceptable. Box lunch was not that great on 1st day.
Facilities at Mountain Inn are acceptable as they are not luxiourous, however economical and clean. Service staff was very responsive. Fast Internet access is an issue, maybe because its away from city with no landline Internet connection. Swimming pool is a good feature to cool down from a hectic climb.
2-day Safari trip to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro was also very good in a Landcruiser and a knowledge and curteous driver. The stay at Nrogongoro Wildlife Lodge was quite good.

We checked in mid-afternoon. The room was basic but clean. Please note, there is no air conditioning so it can be quite warm sleeping. Another poster mentioned that there is not a lot to do here (no tv, no internet), we enjoyed reading on the porch and took a dip in the pool. Dinner was basic, but the service was good. Retired early to rest for our big adventure.

My wife and I came for the climb up Kili and a two day safari. The inn is basic but clean and the people are friendly. Was not crazy about the food. Focus and Naftael were our guides on the mountain and did an excellent job getting us up the mountain. The mountain was not hard but the 5 days of climbing up and down in elevation before the final ascent takes its toll. We had great weather. Renting gaitors and their waterproof bags from their shop was a good idea. The only thing I would do different would be to pay the extra to have your own toilet brought up the mountain. Without getting into detail, I would just say it is well worth the small extra cost. Our 2 day safari was also done well and Robert did a good job as our driver and guide. You should note that Moshi is about 5 to 6 hours from the closest safari. I would recommend Shah tours for a relatively inexpensive adventure trip to Africa. The best thing about Shah Tours was Joel, the front end contact person who arranged the trip for us and answered all of our many questions.

This place was part of my package for the Kilimanjaro, Meru climb and safari.
The rooms are very simple, the restaurants offers basic food and you have no choice. The internet is only accessible on the PC that is probably 20 years old and doing anything on it takes 3 times longer due to slowest speed ever.
If you are to stay there, make sure you take books or go to Moshi or Arusha to kill time because the place is incredibly boring with no options to spend time.

Dear Kat, thank you for taking the time to write a review for our hotel.

Firstly congratulations to you on all of your climbs, we also received word from Kenya that you also made it to the top of Mount Kenya!

Regarding Mountain Inn, we try to keep our rooms simple and clean so there is plenty of space for our climbers to prepare their luggage pre-climb and sort through the dirty clothing post-climb.

In the restaurant we also offer an Indian and A La carte menu and I apologize if these choices were not given to you during your stay.

We take pride in our hotel being away from the hustle and noise of town (including the buses and daily prayer calls at 5 in the morning) whilst still only being a 5-10 minute drive away. I can appreciate that a solo traveler such as yourself can get bored alone with just the swimming pool and restaurant/TV area during the day times.

As we are surrounded by many large/old trees, it has proved difficult to get a reliable internet connection, so currently offer the most reliable method we can get which is a via a 3g dongle. We are however aiming to have WiFi up and running in our public areas by summer 2013!

We hope you do chose to stay with us again if you are ever in Tanzania!

The rooms are basic, but clean and spacious - good value for money. The staff is not very helpful (except from the old waiter in the restaurant). The food is ... edible, but not more than that. All in all, I think you can find better hotels in Moshi.
