“Best pillows!”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

We stayed at The Hibiscus for one night last weekend and would thoroughly recommend it. It is clean, tastefully decorated with pleasant, helpful staff. Rooms were very comfortable with lovely bedlinen and towels and great pillows. Bathrooms were spotless and plenty of hot water to wash off the dust of Moshi! A walk into town took us about 20 mins but being uphill on the way back we took a taxi. Breakfast included fresh pancakes, toast, fruit or eggs if you wished and there was a good choice of teas and coffee and fresh juice. Dinner could be pre-ordered or there was a Chinese takeaway menu but we didn't try these options this trip. The garden was a calm, relaxing place to rest and there was a good selection of books to borrow. There was an askari at night and the plot was well secured. We didn't try the internet so cannot comment on that. We did not have any power cuts. We would recommend this as one of the better places to stay in Moshi and we look forward to revisiting again sometime.

This hotel was a great base for all our Tanzanian adventures.
The place is very clean and safe and in a good location close to Moshi centre. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Coffee and tea are available all day as well as a large collection of books to borrow for your adventures on Kili, safari or elsewhere in the area. I would definitely recommend this place.

One of the cleanest, most friendly, and pretty places in Moshi! The staff/owner are wonderful and security is also top-notch. There is free tea/coffee daily and breakfast as well. The only downside is that the power sometimes goes out and the internet is unreliable. Otherwise, fantastic! You can also do laundry by hand.

I can't say much about this B&B except that it is wonderful and peaceful. The house and the garden are lovely and cosy, the breakfast (with pancakes) delicious and Rebecca and the lady working there, are both sweetheart. Thanks for making our short stay in Moshi, a pleasant experience. I'll definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back there.

I visited Moshi, Tanzania during July 2013. I stayed for an extended period of time at The Hibiscus with friends and colleagues. Rebecca and her staff accommodated every request and were incredibly professional, kind, and enjoyable to work with. We were able to make ourselves at home while still feeling like we were staying in a hotel (i.e. it was clean!). I hope to return to The Hibiscus in the future for another extended stay. Thank you!

I was very fortunate to find The Hibiscus as it became a home away from home for myself and five other colleagues for several weeks. Rebecca worked tirelessly to arrange accommodations for all of us who entered and exited the country at different times. The staff was kind and helpful in every way and the home is tastefully decorated in classic Tanzanian art. I'd recommend The Hibiscus to any traveler looking for a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to stay in Moshi, Tanzania!

I stayed at the Hibiscus for several weeks while volunteering with a non-profit group in Moshi. We were very comfortable in the six room hostel. As we were there for an extended period of time, Rebecca (the manager) let us make ourselves at home. We were able to use the kitchen to make our own meals (when we weren't getting in Xavaris's way), do our laundry, etc. The only inconvenience was that the internet was very slow and eventually non-existent. From what we were told the provider pulled out of Moshi and left the Hibiscus high and dry. I'm sure the problem has been solved by now, so that shouldn't be a concern. The rates very very reasonable and it included breakfast every morning. It's just far enough away from the city center that you won't be bothered by the noise of Moshi, but close enough to be able to walk there in 15 minutes. The rooms are homely with large storage areas and some rooms have private bathrooms. For the price, it's well worth the money.
