“Wonderful Time”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

I visited Moshi, Tanzania during July 2013. I stayed for an extended period of time at The Hibiscus with friends and colleagues. Rebecca and her staff accommodated every request and were incredibly professional, kind, and enjoyable to work with. We were able to make ourselves at home while still feeling like we were staying in a hotel (i.e. it was clean!). I hope to return to The Hibiscus in the future for another extended stay. Thank you!

I was very fortunate to find The Hibiscus as it became a home away from home for myself and five other colleagues for several weeks. Rebecca worked tirelessly to arrange accommodations for all of us who entered and exited the country at different times. The staff was kind and helpful in every way and the home is tastefully decorated in classic Tanzanian art. I'd recommend The Hibiscus to any traveler looking for a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to stay in Moshi, Tanzania!

I stayed at the Hibiscus for several weeks while volunteering with a non-profit group in Moshi. We were very comfortable in the six room hostel. As we were there for an extended period of time, Rebecca (the manager) let us make ourselves at home. We were able to use the kitchen to make our own meals (when we weren't getting in Xavaris's way), do our laundry, etc. The only inconvenience was that the internet was very slow and eventually non-existent. From what we were told the provider pulled out of Moshi and left the Hibiscus high and dry. I'm sure the problem has been solved by now, so that shouldn't be a concern. The rates very very reasonable and it included breakfast every morning. It's just far enough away from the city center that you won't be bothered by the noise of Moshi, but close enough to be able to walk there in 15 minutes. The rooms are homely with large storage areas and some rooms have private bathrooms. For the price, it's well worth the money.

My stay at the Hibiscus was amazing. I spent 6 weeks as a volunteer in Moshi and the Hibiscus made my trip that much more enjoyable. The staff is friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. The grounds are beautiful. It is quiet and close to everything. I recommend this place for everyone who comes to Moshi!

I was at the Hibiscus with a girlfriend and we stayed there mostly all of our time while we where in Tanzania. (when we where in Moshi we stayed here :-) (10 days/ nights) It's a really nice place, quiet area, nice /friendly/ helpfull people, clean and you feel like you're coming home . A good atmosphere , and an answer to all your questions. They are taking care of you and you're not "just a number/guest" but a friend to them. (and they where our friends ;-) Thanks for everything, I can only recommend this place.

I stayed at The Hibiscus for a couple days in July. Brilliant little place. everything is very new, very clean, bright and happily decorated!! Excellent value for money. Its located in a great neighbourhood close to the main road so very convenient but no noise from traffic. The rooms are very big and extremely comfortable. There are really nice comfortable common areas (big lounge, terrace, garden) to meet other travellers and relax as well as a beautiful garden. The food is great and not overpriced and Rebecca is super helpful. I highly recommend it!!

We stayed one night at The Hibiscus, on our drive from Nairobi to Dar. We were traveling with our very young son (he was just 7 months at the time), so we needed to stay a night halfway between Nairobi and Dar, and Moshi was the place to stay, and The Hibiscus was the BnB to stay at. The BnB is very cozy and very clean. A simple breakfast is included in the daily rate. The owner was pretty nice and came up to chat with guests. She said they brought the property not too long ago, and renovated it into the BnB. Although the bedrooms were really nice, I was not overly impressed with the bathrooms; they had old sinks, mirrors, toilet bowl, but very very clean. It is located in a very quiet leafy street. They have a fire pit outside and you can stay out having drinks into the night (obviously we could not do this as we had a baby to look after). A lot of people climbing Kilimanjaro usually stay there as well. I would definitely go back anytime.
