“Cute little BnB”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We stayed one night at The Hibiscus, on our drive from Nairobi to Dar. We were traveling with our very young son (he was just 7 months at the time), so we needed to stay a night halfway between Nairobi and Dar, and Moshi was the place to stay, and The Hibiscus was the BnB to stay at. The BnB is very cozy and very clean. A simple breakfast is included in the daily rate. The owner was pretty nice and came up to chat with guests. She said they brought the property not too long ago, and renovated it into the BnB. Although the bedrooms were really nice, I was not overly impressed with the bathrooms; they had old sinks, mirrors, toilet bowl, but very very clean. It is located in a very quiet leafy street. They have a fire pit outside and you can stay out having drinks into the night (obviously we could not do this as we had a baby to look after). A lot of people climbing Kilimanjaro usually stay there as well. I would definitely go back anytime.

I stayed at Hibiscus lodge a night before i climbed Kilimanjaro and two nights post. It was very clean, with large rooms and mosquito nets and breakfast included and the staff were beautiful!! It is walking distance from the centre of town but in a quiet leafy street which was lovely! They offered to look after my belongings while i was on Kili and offered me a hot shower when i got back as i was originally leaving straight for Arusha. I would highly recommend this place to people staying in Moshi, it is wonderful.

The Hibiscus is a nice and charming spot in a part of Moshi, which yet is not that far off from the main town, as one can walk to town fairly easily for food, shopping and groceries. We had the privilege of enjoying Moshi without the hassle of taking the public transports.

The rooms were nicely decorated, with fantastic hot showers. Breakfast that was provided was good as what the other reviewers have said. Nicely maintained gardens and the feeling you get when you're back in the Hibiscus is like returning home, especially after an exhaustive safari or trek to the various National Parks.

For the rates and facilities, I would really recommend this place if you do not know where to stay in Moshi. Its just great.

Great stay at Hibiscus with a friend/colleague (see her review also). Both rooms were clean, had great clean bathroom facilities, working fans, mosquito nets, comfortable mattresses and sheets...
And the breakfast we had was pancake and/or porridge with bananas, honey or jam, fresh juice, coffee and/or tea - yum! Gardens were a beautiful place to relax. Wi-fi was reasonably priced and quite strong for the area. Staff was all friendly and very helpful. Really fantastic - wish I could keep it a secret, but also hope they can keep enough business to succeed and keep their excellent value!!

I stayed at Hibiscus recently for 10 days with a friend/colleague of mine. It was so wonderful! Cannot recommend it enough. Very comfortable, clean, friendly staff, convenient location (walk to Nakumat et al.!). Hot showers, real toilets, lovely garden. Affordable. Flexible.

Just all around fantastic!! It is a relatively new place - so people might not know it yet if you ask around about it, but we feel incredibly lucky it was recommended to us!!

Hibiscus is an awesome hotel and a fantastic value. We stayed for two nights on our way to Zanzibar and loved it so much, we decided to come back instead of going to Arusha on the trip back to Kenya. The place is incredibly clean, the beds are comfortable, showers hot, and the breakfast is delicious. The walk to town is short, as is the walk to the bus stations for Dar Express and Nairobi. Finally, the owner Rebecca is quite helpful and when our reservation dates got confused she helped us find a different place to stay and paid the difference in cost. Highly recommended.
