This was an amazing way to end my trip through Africa. It was by far the nicest accommodations. Air conditioning, heated shower, comfortable bed that comes with a mosquito net all were amazing comforts. Add to that wifi and an incredible staff, made for such an enjoyable stay.

Enjoyed my first stay at Stella Maris so much, went back again. While visiting my daughter recently we arranged to stay one night at Stella Maris and have them pick me up from the airport. Even though the inn is not that far from where my daughter lives, it was easier to stay here than try to get to her site in the dark. I am so glad we did! The people who work there are so accommodating and friendly, I felt like they had know us for a long time. The rooms are big, bright, air conditioned, very clean and have great views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. And they have free internet access on the first floor! After we traveled around Tanzania, visited my daughters site and took a side trip to Zanzibar, we decided to stay at Stella Maris again before I left. It is such a great concept, having the profits go towards running the school which is located in front of the inn. The volunteers from the school stay at Stella Maris and were all very friendly, they do a great job with the kids. The children I met at the hotel were very well mannered and get attached to the volunteers that stay at Stella Maris. I saved the best part for last, the FOOD. We ate several meals in addition to the free breakfasts and everything was wonderful. It was the best food I had the whole time I was in Tanzania. When you are there, be sure to order the Garlic Chicken.

Staying here is an incredible experience. The project itself is a fantastic idea and really well run - it's great knowing that for a well-priced night's sleep, you're also helping kids get an education. Having seen some of the more expensive and dirtier accommodation in Moshi proper, this place is an unbelievable deal. It is a short drive to town and they will give you a ride in if you need to do something.

The hotel is new, clean, comfortable and well run. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned and the beds are so comfortable. Even the mosquito nets are clean! The food is so fresh because it is bought locally by the team every single day and expertly cooked. You can actually taste the love

Teddy and the team were the most unbelievable and gracious hosts. I came expecting a night's sleep and left with life-long friends. Thank you so very very much for everything!

Stella Maris was the hotel our tour company for our Kilimanjaro trip recommended.

I spent a total of 5 nights there, between climbing Mount Meru, gong on Safari and before and after Kilimanjaro. The hotel has been built to support a school for Aids Orphans, and profits from the hotel go towards feeding and educating these children. The hotel is located 6miles outside of Moshi town, therefore is is much quieter and its nice to avoid the choas of Moshi or Arusha. Despite beeing located close to the main road, the hotel has stunning views of Kilimanjaro from the front rooms.

The facilities at Stella Maris were excellent, but more than that the staff were incredibly helpful, FRIENDLY and accommodating. The food and drink (Kilimanjaro Beer...YUM!) in their restaurant was good and resonably priced. All it all, everytime I came back to Stella Maris from a long hiking/camping trip I felt comfortable and at home.

There is more pis and info on their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/StellaMarisLodge

I hope you choose to stay there and enjoy it as much as we did.

Room Tip: Try get one of the front rooms with the view of Kili (rooms 107, 109, 113, 114,)

The Stella Maris Lodge is an amazing place that serves a very good cause with all proceeds funding the adjoining school for orphaned kids. The people that work there are beautiful and friendly, and made our stay a special one! We had a hard time leaving and look forward to going back some day! Teddy, Innocent, Nesto, Scholastica and all the staff took very good care of us, and became our 'friends'.The service, the food, the rooms were all very pleasant and, as others said it really was the people who made the difference!Thanks...SO much!

Defined by the great work that they do, Stella Maris is a fantastic hostel. I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful staff and volunteers there, who make all the difference to your stay - incredibly pleasant, kind and world-wise at the same time. The fact that your hotel fee acts as a donation as well is a brilliant idea and makes the project a sustainable one. The hotel is clean, comfortable and meals are fantastic, particularly the fruit spread that accompanies the morning breakfast. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. And just as a bonus, it boasts a great view of Mt. Kilimanjaro! I'd recommend the trip to anyone travelling to Arusha/ Moshi - it's on the road that connects the 2 towns and very near the airport, so all-in-all brilliant!

There is not a place in the world that I would would rather visit than Stella Maris. When you are there, you are family and you are treated as such. The hotel boasts fantastic staff, service, and an incredible view of Mount Kilimanjaro. No matter where you travel, you will not find better people who are full of love for their job, their hotel and their guests. If that's not enough for you, the hotel is a non-profit benefitting the beautiful children of Stella Maris Primary School.

The hotel is clean, mosquito nets are provided and they have a full kitchen and awesome dining staff sure to provide your taste buds with a local treat. If you are traveling to Tanzania any time soon and decide to stay anywhere else, you're missing out on an incredible stay in a hotel run by the most incredible people I have ever met.
