“great riding experience”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

remotely located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, with some great viewing points (without much efforts), the place offer great leisure time for those who like the outdoors.
horse riding, hiking, bird watching, or just enjoying the sounds at the many points around the farm.

the staff is very friendly and helpful, the horses and equipment are in mint conditions, the hosts/owners are very friendly and interesting individuals that can fill your evening with great conversations on various topics.

food is very satisfying and accommodation is pleasant and spacious.

hot water are not always available, but upon request you will get it within less than half hour.

all in all - great place to spend couple of days (or weeks) in the outdoor.

Room Tip: all rooms seem to be the same, make sure to lock your doors, there's a lovely cute monkey that w...

Lazlo and Elizabeth have a very special place that they happily share with the lucky traveller who finds them. It's almost as if you are joining their family for the duration of your stay. Where else can you get such a close and intimate understanding of what local life is like than by living among the inhabitants of Kilimanjaro. Lazlo and Elizabeth, German expats, have lived on the slopes of Kilimanjaro for over twenty years. As I rode 35km with Lazlo across the foothills and among the coffee plantations and floral nursuries, our interactions with the local people were fascinating. Many of the Tanzanians we encountered were wide-eyed and in wonder of the beautiful horses we rode, while others greeted my host with a knowing smile and local customary greetings. Our rides were punctuated by breathtaking scenery, challenging fast-paced riding, and thought provoking conversations with our host as he explained life on Africa's tallest mountain.

Elizabeth and Laszlo are amazing hostess and host. From the moment they picked us up from the airport and dropped us off my husband and I had an unbelievable week. I went to ride horses and I can tell you I have hardly ever seen such beautiful, well cared for horses. Loved it that no bits are used. My husband is not a rider but went hiking with Elizabeth while Laszlo took me riding. Beautiful scenery with Mt. Kili and Mt. Meru in the background, perfect! The food was served on a screened in porch where monkeys played in the trees, the stork visited every meal and their eight dogs were so well behaved. If you love animals, this is the place to be. They have rescued many and created a safe, loving home. Every meal was outstanding and presented beautifully. Can't wait to go back?
Visited Tom, the 180 yr. old tortoise, Bahati, one of the Skyes monkey's love to ride on the horse. A very, very special place and your cottage is perfect with a view of Mt. Kili that seems surreal.
Thank you for everything,
Tim and Linda

Room Tip: They are both quiet and we had a perfect view of Mt. Kili from our bed.
