My partner and I did our advance dive course and snorkeling trips with Mafia Island diving, because we were staying in Mafia Island lodge. The staff was friendly and professional and it was comfortable, safe and nice to dive with them. The underwaterworld is beautiful, coral reefs are still in good shape, the marine life is diverse, and fish are bigger than I've seen elsewhere. There is no reef access from the beach, so you have to go by boat on snorkeling trips. This is also well organised with nice people.

So many fishes... so many things to look at... feels like never going out of the water and most of the site being quit shallow it makes the dives longer thats why you will be reminded 50br or 60 min then out :-)...
My husband finished his open watercourse and was so comfortable that he did as well the advance…They were always trying to accommodate courses and fun dive for us to be able to enjoy the fun of diving together. It is really pleasant to dive with people who dive everyday for months on the same sites and still are exited and interested to look for new things or just to enjoy being in a so preserved and beautiful environment. If you like taking your time then it is the right place to be, If you enjoy looking for little things then for sure go for a muck dive especially at night… fantastic time. But don't forget to send a message to Danielle and David before going to Mafia… it is a place where everything is possible if you are there at the right time (of the year and of the tide)...
A big thank you to the team for making our holidays memorable and beautiful

We spent a week diving here in November. A beautiful location and the diving is spectacular. There are just so many big fish that in many other places would have been fished out long ago. We did a very fast drift dive along one of the walls further out and it was a case of 'oh look - a large grouper'.. 'oh look another large grouper'.. on and on..

The dive center is exceedingly well run and we were waited on hand an foot. Never allowed to lift a tank. Which felt a bit strange to start with but it didn't take long to see that we were creating a lot of jobs for locals on a poor island where fishing is about the only other option.

A highly professional outfit. I completed my PADI openwater diving course here and snuck in a night dive as well. Great training, amazing coral and a real passion from them to protect it. Their knowledge of the wildlife around them was inspiring and they made time spent with them a real joy. Thanks guys.

The Mafia Island dive shop is exceptional: Danielle and David, the young couple who own it, are fantastic and their concern for the environment and our safety and enjoyment was the best we've ever experienced. Consequently, the customer service couldn't have been better. The quality of the reef is excellent - better than we've ever seen (although we haven't been to Indonesia or the Philippines). The variety of fish was overwhelming and what fun to dive off of dhows! The only negative is diving is very tide-dependent, which dictates when you can go out (in the extreme, it could be one day at 6am and the next day at noon) and this also effects the visibility (which was only about 40 feet when we were there). But we did get to go snorkeling with whale sharks.
