We had a one night stop in Mossel Bay as we headed along the coast. We had not booked in advance and the tourist info office recommended The Edward Charles, which was also in our Rough Guide. First of all for the night cost 300rand, about £28 for the room and breakfast and following our stay I can say this was excellent value.
The room was fine, there was only a shower in the bathroom but it was all clean and comfy. The guest house is quite big and had a couple of nice common areas and books to read. The lady on reception recommended somewhere for dinner - the Kingfisher, at the point, and arranged pick-up by the restuarant, which was very good and good value.
The breakfast in the morning was nothing special but put some food in us and we then got in our way. I'm not sure if there was much to see in Mossel Bay but we had to get on to our next stop but our brief stay in Mossel Bay and the Edward Charles was a surprising success as a quick stopover.More
