We recently stopped over for 1 night at this hotel on our Garden Route road trip & were rather pleasantly surprised on arrival to find my name on the welcome check in board at the reception which made us feel welcomed! Our room was rather spacious & comfortable but were later only to hear that the room was next door to the hotel pub which was rather noisy until after midnight, the other problem was that the bathroom sink was blocked which was reported on check out! The hotel seafood restaurant Cafe Gannet was very good, the kingklip dinner was excellent & service was wonderful, it is situated close to the swimming pool with a scenic view of the ocean, breakfast was fine & a good start to the new day! We were well rested to continue with our journey, a well deserved stop over!

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms near the pub!

We had a lovely stay at the Protea Hotel. Our room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was at the pool with a beautiful view. We also enjoyed the vibe at the bar on Friday evening. It was a great start to our holiday.

Good food, neat and clean room and best bed to rest upon after a long trip.
Sleep like a king peacefully as if guarded by the kings men. First time experience at the hotel, certainly not my last. Parking very safe and comfortable fit for a VIP.
The best osterich meal I had for a very long long ......time.
I'm actually very impressed with your service way out of the extraordinary !!!

Room Tip: Rooms close to parking area and next to bar best bet

The rooms at this hotel are very big. The lower floor has the master bedroom and bathroom. The entrance floor has a living area and kitchen and the top floor has another bedroom with 2 beds. It's nice but a little dated and in need of a little modernization.

The location is great for Mosselbay, which is a little sea side village and beautiful.

I believe this is the nicest hotel in Mosselbay and would stay here again.

Right by the harbor, it's super convenient with the marine museum right next door and the beach a hop away, with a lovely view as well. The rooms were large and nicely done. The breakfast was not very elaborate but it's was very fresh. They also have the largest post box so make sure you carry a post card or two to post from there! ;)
