Very nice view and good breakfast but the price is too much for the quality. Also it is time that the management understands that free wifi Internet connection is expected. It is disappointing to see you have to pay for this service

No Aircon. Bathroom falling apart. No servietes at breakfast. No salt in containers at breakfast. Were given salt in packets. Staff in dinning room rude. Confirmed that we wanted ala carte but on arrival were told only buffet available. Previous time we stayed here we had to ask for clean linnen. At least this time the linnen were clean but on its last legs.
Never again at this hotel

We stayed in the Point Hotel as we travelled from Jo'burg to Cape Town in December. It was recommended to us by an accommodation specialist, which raised our hopes as to the quality of the accommodation. Sadly, they were dashed.........

Whilst there was nothing seriously wrong with the hotel, there were several things wrong with the room we were given! It was on the lower ground floor, at the end of the building, next to the public car park. What was wrong with this room:

1) very poor security - people can just walk down from the car park onto the balcony at the back of the room. Whilst no one did whilst we were there, it was a real concern for me

2) noise - being right next to the car park, we had loud music from young people in their cars until late at night, with car parks being the obvious place today's youth like to hang out!

3) view - whilst the hotel's website shows some amazing sea views, we didn't have any, as our room looked on to..........some rocks that completely blocked the view!

4) the smell from the rocks........was quite offputing, as there are some rock rabbits living in amongst them, and they were quite smelly

Throw in some surly service from the staff at the front desk, and it all adds up to a less than fun stay. Luckily we were only there for one night.............

Room Tip: Stay away from the lower ground floor if at all possible, and definitely ask for a room as far away...

In a busy season (like Christmas) access to The Point Hotel can be a challenge. With beach parking and a neighbouring caravan park, there was a lot of traffic using the one way road that goes past the hotel. Once there though, the hotel was like an oasis in the middle of the frenetic holiday crowd. Right on the rocks, our three rooms had amazing views across the ocean. The hotel is so close to the crashing waves they provide ear plugs, seriously. But what a wonderful, privileged experience to be able to go to sleep listening to Mother Nature thundering just outside. Our rooms were very comfortable although no bar fridge is provided. However, if you need to keep things cool, the hotel will store them in one of their fridges until you need them. The bathrooms are fairly small but not inconveniently so. The shower curtain did not stretch the entire way across the bath/ shower combination so keeping the floor from getting wet was not easy. The reception staff were friendly enough but I did get the impression that the holiday season was wearing them down and stretching their patience. Hope they all get a holiday soon, too! Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good - thankfully so, as we did not want to venture back into the traffic again. Thanks to our waitress, Gloria, we had efficient service and she made us laugh with her wonderful sense of humour.

Room Tip: All good as long as they face the sea

The ocean playing around us and the waves sound with our body just mind blowing.
You need guts to stay at this hotel which is just at sea where waters splashes with huge noise in seconds and very much to express or to say or to represent the photographic views.
Just no words and location is great. I had been cape town Mosel bay and Kysana.

Room Tip: Hotel at ocean

We booked in the afternoon of Sunday 2 Dec. Although our bed was made up it had dirty sheets! The receptionist said 'I suppose you will want to move rooms then?' No apology. Unbelievable in a 4 star. The lift was grubby and there was a general feeling that there was no manager in charge. Needs a clean up and paint.
The view is stunning but this wasn't a 4 star experience
