This hotel is excellent to stay at for the view of the cape of Africa. "With pleasure," was always the response when we asked for anything. The hotel made our trip to Mossel Bay an excellent one!

The Point Hotel is a soul-less concrete monstrosity enjoying fabulous views onto the rocky shoreline immediately below it. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable and the balconies are a great spot from which to watch and listen to the waves crashing over the rocks. Safe pool areas have been created which are popular with swimmers of all ages.
This part of Mossell Bay is popular with daytrippers and the immediate surrounds of the hotel away from the sea comprise a large public car park and caravan site.
It is arguably the best area of an otherwise featureless town with few restaurants though there is a very good one nearby called Jazzburys.

This hotel is right on the water, slightly away from the center of town, about 3 minutes by car, but it is not the most exciting of towns. The location is the hotel's best feature, the rooms are clean, the breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful enough. From the room's balcony we could watch whales (in the distance) and the sun set. There are two restaurants within a short walking distance, and the hotel has its own restaurant. For a short stay it was a nice place, and Mossel Bay tends to be 'off the beaten track' for the Garden Route. Also, we went during the off-season, so we walked in without a reservation and got two rooms for two nights, no problem.

The hotel itself is nice - clean, decent breakfast, decent facilities (except for internet access, but the staff was nice enough to let me use their office computer). But, the view is absolutely incredible. All rooms look right over the crashing waves of the shoreline, and the hotel is practically right on the water. The walk into town is on the far side so its a bit of a haul to most restaurants and sites, but it is very close to the lighthouse and start of the St. Blaise hiking trail, which is a beautiful walk along the coast.
