Not the best hotel on the tour we with Saga, but had a wonderful sea view room over looking the Indian Ocean, saw the sun rise and set, very spectacular. Can swim in the warm waters of the Indian ocean. Staff not as attentive at this hotel. Food was good and the restaurant faced the sea
Big problems with the card keys, our party sepnt a lot of time sorting this problem out and could not get in their rooms. We had to have a maintenance man repair a loose shower fixture and door lock. Don't staff inspect these things before guest occupy them.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a sea view

Good place to unwind with views to die for. If I wanted to be petty then I could complain but I was extremely happy with the good value for money. The endless beach walks were so welcome after the buffet breakfast. Rooms very clean and serviced like clockwork.

The Diaz Strand Hotel is located right on the beach. The rooms all have beautiful sea views. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds and linen. The only disappointment was the small tv. Breakfast was delicious with a large variety of food. The views from the breakfast room windows are stunning. You can walk to Hartenbos along the beach, good exercise after breakfast. There is secure parking on the first floor. You also receive a voucher for the heated pools next door. Beach towels are available from reception.

Absolutely terrible experience. The only enjoyable aspect was the view. The hotel had parking which was suppose to be exclusively used by the residents, yet was physically open to the public. Since it is the festive season and given the hotels proximity to the beach, the parking was used by the general public, so parking was almost impossible. The parking was unsecure and consequantly our vehicle was vandalised.

The hotels foyer was used as a thouraghfare by beach goers, so the floor was full of beach sand and pools of seawater (so much for first impressions). Our rooms bed was a 3 quarter bed and not a double bed, it was barely adequate for us. The sleeper couch was actually bigger but had no mattress.

The hotels resturaunt decided not to serve dinner for some unknown reason. The lifts did not operate correctly, often bypassing your floor without stopping, evethough it was going in your intended direction. The staircase could not be used as the doors cannot open outwards onto a floor, which resuled in us being stuck in the stairwell for sometime, until someone by chance heard us and opened the door ( i would hate to know what would happen if the ground floor caught on fire and you needed to evacuate on the 3rd floor for example?).

It appears the hotel could just not cope with the festive season increase in numbers. Even the resident only swimming pool was easily accesible by beach goers, subsequantly it was over crowded and the pool was full of beach sand and rubbish.

This is our 3rd visit to the hotel. Just because we love the location. Do not expect above average service. We stayed in a family room which is ok. During December you spend most of the time on the beach, so the room was comfortable when we were there to take a nap. You do not have exclusive use of the facilities at the hotel, as alot of non-hotel residents make use of the restaurant down stairs and end up at the swimming pool. Beware that the Pirates Cocktail Bar located on the beach are very noisy from late afternoons till early in the morning. Therefore I suggest stay on the 7th floor or higher. There is a great beach/surf shop located on the ground floor in the hotel. Do not worry if you have forgotten something, they stock everything.

Phoned 2 days ago to make a booking for this hotel - which was reviewed quite positively on tripadvisor - the person who answered the phone seem to struggle with English but nonetheless we struggled through the booking procedure. She promised to send the booking confirmation immediately.
This morning i had to call again as i have not yet received the booking confirmation. A weak apology and another try to complete my details. Another promised to send the email "straight away".
8 hours later i had to call again to request the confirmation email so i can pay them as the hotels on the rooms on the coast are getting booked up quickly and understandably, i'm anxious to get it done.
Nothing again. What do i have to do to get a confirmation so i can give them my hard earned money? Or shall i vote with my wallet?
