“Excellent value for money and attentive hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for one night only and what a find! (thanks again trip advisor ) the accommodation is approx 20 minute drive east of Mossel Bay but the views are stunning over the ocean. Whales arrived for us to view on a sunny afternoon, but the weather turned overnight and was too blustery for them in the morning. Enormous breakfast very friendly hosts who loaned us some binoculars as forgot to bring them! Stayed in ground floor apartment with direct access to large patio area.
Excellent value for money and wifi access. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Joy for her hospitality. The breakfast we had at whalephin was the best we had on our Garden route holiday. I am confident that if Louis would have been with you it could have been even better.

The location of the B&B is a little away from Mossel bay but I felt vindicated of my choice when I experienced the sunrise from your place. It was one of the best and would serve me a lifetime as a memory to cherish.

We were quite impressed when you turned up promptly late in the evening to receive us. The room was good with a beautiful garden. I would have loved to stay longer to explore the fynbos and the surrounding places. The chirping of the birds, the comfortable bed, the superb breakfast and a lovely host made our brief stay at Wahlephin a very special one. I would definitely come back again.

Room Tip: Take the room upstairs if you can.......and catch the sunrise early.

We stayed at the At Whale-Phin Guest Houst for 2 nights in April, an excellent base to visit the local attractions in the Mossel Bay area. What a lovely comfortable room with superb views of the bay - absolutely beautiful! Louis and Joy were excellent hosts, the English breakfast was very tasty and I adored Louis' home-made muesli. Both gave us a lot of local information including advice on the local restuarants and shuttle services. Special thanks to Joy for booking our trip to the Botlierskop game reserve (it was very special being allowed to stroke 3 month old lion cubs). We can thoroughly recommend this lovely guest house and would definately return.

Louis and Joy have worked very hard to make this a lovely guest house. They include many small simple amenities to make the stay nicer such as binoculars for bird and whale watching.
They have an extensive local knowledge and are willing to make recommendations to all guests.
The breakfast was delicious!

Room Tip: Rooms are a bit chilly. Pack warmer sleepwear for autumn.

We had a wonderful stay at The Whale-Phin Bed And Beakfast. The view from the porch was fantastic. The owners Louis and Joy made us feel at home and were very helpful. We were there three nights and met several of the guest, all of whom were return visitors. Some of them had been coming back for years.

Another delightful stay at the Whale Phin my partners 6th stay and my 3rd. Joy and Louie are lovely warm hosts who made us and out four year old daughter feel very welcome. Although their website say they do not cater for children they are more than happy to accommodate children who are well behaved enough to respect their beautiful home. If you like relaxed home from home give the Whale Phin a try if you want unfriendly and faceless boring huge chain type hotels (why people like these I have no idea unless they have no social skills) go elsewhere! We will be returning next year!

The room was clean, well decorated and had everything we needed. We were in the dolphin room which had an incredible view over the bay, where we saw southern right whales breach repeatedly!!! Louis and Joy were very helpful providing local information help with bookings. We particularly liked the book they had put together with information on things to do in mossel bay and places to eat. The breakfast provided at the guesthouse was also fantastic, very generous and tasty. We really enjoyed mossel bay, very under rated place and wished we had stayed longer. Would have liked it if the wifi could be used free of charge.
This place would be great for a group of friends/ family to hire out for a week.

Room Tip: Choose dolphin or whale room
