“Ansie's Self Catering Holiday Cottage”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2011

We had the pleasure of staying here for two nights enroute to Cape Town. The owner met us and was very friendly and hospitable. Our cottage by the sea was absolutely lovely, the decor was very cosy, the rooms amazing and comfortable. Even though the cottage is not directly ON the beach we could see the ocean through a walk way just a few steps away. Situated in a gated community, and with a few good restaurants around the corner, some wifi in the main building, this is an awesome place to be. We wished we had scheduled a longer stay here.

Room Tip: We had cottage number 12 Ansie's Self Catering Holiday Cottage

I am a property developer and brought my landscaper and his team from another part of the country to work on my development in the next town. I have supported this establishment often in the past because of the beautiful setting, even though the accommodation is average. I made arrangements with the reception (Deniel) for my checkout and my landscaper would stay for another week. There was some miscommunication between the reception and Dewaal, the owner. He called me with an aggressively rude attitude and accused me of wanting to save R300 to his detriment. What idiocy. My phone was on speaker and the landscaper and myself decided to check out immediately due to Dewaal's unprofessionlaism and rudeness.

Stayed in room 8 of the guest house, supposed honeymoon room. Room had bath in the centre probably OK for honey mooners, but also had WC with beaded curtain on one side a a screen. When one of us wanted to use the WC the other went onto the veranda to give privacy. Unhygenic aswell as lack of privacy.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst travelling along the Garden Route with friends, it was so nice to have this beach cottage. Initially when booking we thought we would be directly on the beach but there was another cottage in front of us and then the beach, which I was a little miffed about. However the cottage itself was awesome, spacious, nice furniture, huge big kitchen, and BBQ out the back, with a big patio area. It made a nice change to go to the supermarket and buy food instead of eating at yet another restaurant.
The cottage we had was called 'Ansie’s Cottage', it had 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and one single, there was ample room for us all, the bathroom was fine with a huge bath and separate shower. There was no AC in any of the rooms, so it was a little hot during the night but a few wines and i was out like a light until the next monring!
20 seconds from your front door you’re on the beach, where you can surf if you want, there seemed to be plenty of people doing this, however it’s very rocky. The town centre is a 2 minute drive away where you can get everything you need. The only grumble would be the extra visitors when you started to cook ‘cockroaches’, not many, less than 10, but they weren’t around for long put it that way! :) We all had a really good time here, and we got some great memories!

I stayed in the Point Village Guesthouse in Feb '09. The owners are so welcoming and hospitable. The rooms are all themed differently and I was given the choice of 2 different rooms! The location is perfect to restaurants and the beach. The rooms are so clean, really fresh and ultimetely I really enjoyed staying there! No food is served in the Guesthouse but they do have a deal with a nearby restaurant to get breakfast a little cheaper (i think.. i did not avail of it). Large sitting room area with TV and complimentary wine to drink. There is a small pool and decking area to lie out. I cannot wait to go back and stay there again. I would recommend it for single travellers, couples .. or anyone really! The price is very reasonable and well worth it.

Some of my family rented a house in The Point Village too (which you can rent through the owners of the Guesthouse). The house was immaculate and stunning and so reasonable. It was located just behind the guesthouse. Definitely worth checking out guesthouse and houses to rent before looking at hotels are they are more modern and cost efficient.

We arrived last minute to Mossel Bay and were looking for one nights accomodation.

We found this place and were put in "honeymoon suite" on the top floor. It was wonderful:
- wrap around deck
- nice bath tub
- excellent view of the ocean
- nice and private

For breakfast we were given a voucher for some nice restaurants on the ocean just minutes away. This was nice.

Owners friendly.
