We were excited about going to a beach resort, however it turns out it is a long awkward way to the beach. With a young family it was time consuming and awkward getting anywhere. You had to park in a garage then get a golf cart to your apartment. The apartment was freezing cold, never got any sun, even in April, and although the advertising promised fireplaces, we had none in our apartment. We asked for something to be done, but only received one small bar heater. The kitchen needed a cordless kettle, there was no Sky TV, as promised, the apartment also needed a clothes drying rack, since they did have a very useful washing machine. It would have been good to have WIFI there too. Apartment from this, the place had a lovely view and was tastefully decorated and had everything else we needed. Overall a good stay but disappointing.

Room Tip: choose an apartment with a fireplace.

We rented a two bedroom cottage for a week and there were both positives and negatives.

Lovely views and location, the cottages are spacious and well equipped. If you're into golf or gambling (which we are not) , both a casino and golf course is part of the estate. Good swimming pool.

On the down side, the estate is almost car free - you need to phone for an estate taxi (free) to take you from the cottage to the parking area, and this eat's into the time .. waiting for a taxi. Golf carts are allowed and the cottage owners are seen to be whizzing round .. found it odd that 10 year olds were driving golf carts ..!

Carpets in our cottage were not very clean, and we has some birds trapped in the loft. A motley crew arrived to remove these birds which had set up a nest and though they did eventually succeed, it did suggest that the cottages are not maintained or checked. The carpets were dirty and the cleaning slow. One day the cleaning was not done and the owner of the outsourcing company arrived personally to get the cleaning done .... we felt uncomfortable as this was not professional.

Overall I would say that it is a convenient location to explore the garden route but he resort needs to sort out better management of the cottage rental side of things - either give everyone a golf cart to get around, sort out a private beach with life guards, spruce up the pool area with additional amenities, and sort out the maintenance of the cottages.

Room Tip: Direct Sea facing rooms have good views; those at the back or facing the golf course may not have good views. There is a Bar-b-q area on the deck of every cottage so do take some briquettes and fire lighters.

What a lovely stay! The estate is so beatiful and it's easy to fall in love with it. I understand its gone through an overhaul since the developer was liquidated and I must say the results are positive and there for all to see. We stayed in a two bedroom lodge which was well equipped, spacious and had amazing views. The shuttle system in the estate is extremely well organized and very efficient, we used it most of the time there and it worked very well. The clubhouse has amazing views overlooking the estate, the golf course and the ocean, spending time there having a meal or a drink was a real treat and the service from the waiting staff was impeccable. The food was also tasty and real value for money. Although not catered specifically toward kids, there is a great jungle gym and play area by the communal pool which is awesome, also there is a games room at the casino just outside the estate. The casino also has two very nice restaurants which coupled with the clubhouse gives you three eating options. Mossel bay is a short five minute drive away which is fantastic in that it offers some hustle and bustle, shops and a huge variety of eating alternatives. All in all Pinnacle Point was an incredible stay, they provided great service a fantastic atmosphere and an amazing experience. All this and I havn't even spoken about the golf course yet! With every hole offering a sea view and various tee boxes catering for different skill sets and handicaps, it's challenging, spectacularly beautiful and a real treat to play. You must go and visit!!

Room Tip: If you're staying in a golf lodge ask for a front row sea facing unit

We stayed for 2 nights at lodge 19 which is a two bedroom lodge overlooking the golf course and the sea .if you want to Bri(BBQ) then make sure that you bring at least 2 bags of charcoal as the Bri is not very efficient . The lodges are ok looking a bit tired and there is a strange system of transport as you have to park your car and then they take you to your lodge and then to anywhere you want to go

We played the golf course the next day which was the real reason that we stayed there and it is one of the most stunning courses I have ever played

The lodges at Pinnacle Point are excellent, we had a 4 bed lodge that included great entertainment space and the obligatory deck and brai. The only disappointment was the disorganized reception desk, having to phone for transportation (no cars allowed in resort) to get anywhere proves hit and miss, the very friendly drivers were consistently let down by miscommunication from the reception. I would hate to experience this in the high season, I imagine it would be chaotic.
The restaurants were, at best poor, the casino buffet earning the unlikely accolade from our team as 'the brown' restaurant, due to the fact that every food was a tone of brown, with MSG in abundance. I would suggest visiting Checkers the local supermarket and stocking up for home cooked comforts. the entire resort was very quiet, but even in high season whilst it would be busy, I still will lack charm and sophistication, keep in the confines of your wonderfully appointed lodge and you won't be disappointed.
The golf course whilst spectacular and a true feat of engineering, was disappointing, for the serious golfer this course is not for you, go to marvel over the spectacular views and cliff edge shots, but expect to have no clue where to hit your ball and never have a flat lie.
Service in the club house is OK, the food though is very average for South Africa.
