Poor/slow service at restaurant. No lunch menu available. South African citizens treated second class to foreign visitors. The average person is not allowed to enjoy the wildlife from the restaurant outlook point the same way as foreign visitors. Its a shame the SA establishments are greedy to the point that local citizens have to suffer.

Dear Corne

Not sure if you are reviewing the correct establishment
The only look "out point at the restaurant" is at the Tented Lodge which is the lodge for our accommodation guests. Our day visitors we receive at the Bishop Safari Lodge. The main reason for having 2 lodges is to be able to accommodate our overnight and day visitor guests with the best possible experience. If you refer to the fact that they did not allow you to enter the main lodge please remember that this is not cause you are South African but because the main tented lodge are for the accommodation guests. If you would book accommodation you are more that welcome to come to the tented lodge look out point. Our business does consists of 50% South African guests and we are pround of this, very pround and it is a pitty that you feel the way you do. (if you have reviewed the correct establishment) Any other activities to view wildlife, such as guided game drives, are unfortunately paid activities so wildlife can be enjoyed on these activities but needs to be paid for - similar to any other game reserve down the Garden Route you would go and visit. All our day vistors are welcomed at the Bishop Safari Lodge where various activities can be enjoyed.

Hope you will have a lovely day

Kind Regards

“A fulfilling experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

My father and I really appreciated the 3 hours safari we had. The guide was great, very knowledgable and capable. We saw a lot of different animals and wouldn't expect to have such an AMAZING and ENJOYABLE tour. Once back, we were welcomed with a nice drink to warm up: definitely to be recommended for visitors of any age.

“The most amazing holiday in every way!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

My wife and I and two kids aged 12 and 7 came here for a 4 night break. We will remember this stay for a long time, this is the place to come to be spoilt, pampered and entertained. The accommodation was very comfortable, we had a family tent. Was better than most top hotels I have been at, loved the outdoor shower. Food was great and the chefs went out of their way to cater for me as a vegetarian. Our guide "Christo", really made our holiday, took us on fantastic game drives, elephant feeds, lion cub visits and best of all, incredible horse rides where we even saw Rhino. I will never forget the second ride my daughter and I did up the mountain and through the fynbos! This place is a must for parents. I could go on raving, but this should show you where to come.

“Exceptional outride experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

Had what can only be described as the best outride of my life with Eben and two newlyweds at Botlierskop this morning. We were fortunate to participate in a "working outride" with Eben, the farm manager, as we were all advanced riders. The game viewing was exceptional, as it always is on horseback; close encounters are possible as the animals are unafraid of the horses, who mask the human presence. We were relegated with a wealth of stories and information, from the history of the "boereperd", the horses bred on the farm for working purposes, to the day to day management of the wildlife and other points of interest that are rarely accessible to guests. We were treated with a visit to the brood mare herd, and the beautiful black stallion who presides over them in a most intelligent manner, as is evidenced by the lack of scars and bite marks on him and his mares. A visit by a young stallion who was a little over zealous was very well managed by our guide.
So passionate was he about his work that I was quite surprised to find out later that Eben is not the owner of the farm.
Well worth the current fee of R750 and definitely something I will do again.
Special thanks to Arne at the Day Centre for handling my booking with such aplomb and greeting all of the guests so warmly.

“Absolutely relaxing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

Wow , if relaxing is what you looking for then look no further, set in a the forested game reserve with birds waking you up in the morning and elephants winking at you during lunch . Also definitely book the "Walk with Lions" you won't regret it , pricey but worth it. Also go for a bush walk up Botlierskop and you will see the ocean on one side and the game farm on the other.
