We visit Botlierskop at the end of May. What a wonderful experiece!
The game reserve is beautiful and the tents and the hotel area really of high standard.
The staff service where really excellent. They really tried to make that weekend something very special. The dinner and breakfast was very good.

We would love to go back to Botlierskop!

Do not expect the Serengiti. It is not wild.
But, with children it is the perfect place to watch animals, although expensive. With your children you can see giraffes, buffalos, zebras and rhinos. The tents are really luxury. Lions are living in a cage, and they take some elephants out of their cage to walk around in front of you. Not wild, ...but your family can see them all. You'll love it...

We just returned from an amazing visit to Cape Town and it's environs. Part of our trip was an overnight at Botlierskop. As my youngest child is too young for a full -fledged safari, we wanted to visit a private game reserve so the children could have an introductory safari-type experience. We were not disappointed by Botlierskop. We all loved the tented accommodations and the food was delicious. My children could hardly believe they were eating wildebeest and warthog!

We did an early morning game drive and were rewarded with lots of animal sightings - zebra, wildebeest, black impala, giraffes, rhinos, kudu, and eland. Part of the way through our drive, we stopped for coffee (and hot chocolate for the kids!). As we sipped our java we watched 4 giraffes munching away on leaves and prickly pear.

While there were a few reminders we were on a private game reserve as opposed to a huge park like Kruger, this was a great introduction to a safari. It was also nice not to have to worry about taking anti-malarial medication - something we would have needed to do had we headed to Kruger. If you are looking to have a quick and easy safari type experience, consider Botlierskop!
