“Always a winner!”
Reviewed April 20, 2013 via mobile

2012 was our second visit to Botlierskop, first time was in 2011. We love it there.
We enjoyed our game drives and the guides were really well informed.
The food is absolutely great!
The tents are luxurious and well equipped.
It is a bit pricey, but one does get spoilt, we'll hopefully visit annually.

The weather at this time can be a little chilly to do game drives but if you must do I would recommend this place. Our guide Viljoen was great at finding the animals for us. And gave us time to sit and watch them in the wild.
I had a 6,10,12 yr old with us and they absolutely loved it. It was really serene and quiet. At times a little too quite but very peaceful. 2 big fireplaces in the main lodge in evening to keep warm and relax. Our tents were awesome and wished we had more time. I would stay in tent # 14 again.
The food was amazing. Especially at dinner. Our buffet came with venison, eland, waterbuck( which was to die for) crocodile, fish, lamb. You name it. It was there. We got to try a little bit of everything.
The service and staff was also great and very friendly an helpful. Loved every moment there.

Fantastic place - we loved our stay in a tent in a tree. The food was amazing, but the best thing were the game drives - we saw so many animals! The spa is also really worth a visit, and in the evenings, you can chill outside by a huge logfire or enjoy a snuggle up in your own 4-poster bed listening to the noises of the forest. Absolutely wonderful!

I travelled to Botlierskop with my wife and children (10 and 8). We had a 12 night holiday in SA starting from Cape Town, and booked 4 nights in Botlierskop (BLK). It is four hour drive from Cape Town to BLK, less from Stellenbosch, but I would say well worth the effort. You get a sense of the vastness of Africa and the road is good with many service areas and refuelling stops.

We had three nights in the Manor House and one in a tent.

The children found the place fabulous, with lots of freedom to walk around without constant parental supervision.

Staff were friendly and enthusiastic to show off the animals. Viljoen looked after us very well, but all the staff were willing to help. Remember TIA - this is Africa - so some things are late, don't quite work out, but if you relax it doesn't matter. The scenery is stunning.

Food was super - lots of it, interesting choice of meat on the barbecue each night which the children found fascinating - gemsbok, crocodile, ostrich - as well as the usual choice.

My wife and daughter did two horseback safaris- lovely ponies, good leaders, amazing experience for an eight year old to ride up close to giraffes. There is fishing, tennis, lazing around, canoeing, no risk of getting bored.

We did four game drives and rarely covered the same track twice for very long. We fed the elephants, had a close encounter in the dark with buffalo, were in awe of the lions.

It's not Kruger or Okavango, but for a child-friendly wildlife experience within reach of the Cape, it was hard to beat. It was the highlight of our visit to SA.

The cost may seem high, but for four people it was on a par with a few days beach holiday in Europe and immensely more varied.

Just an amazing place to spend a few days and watch some amazing wildlife!
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the views are just mesmerizing! They have an amazing 7 course dinner and a hearty breakfast! The property is good and has boardwallks and tents you can rent so that you can always have any walks...often spotting rhinos or wilderbeest from afar.
They have WiFi(which I used heartily!).Moreover, the staff are extremely friendly and our guide, Neil was very well informed about everything we saw(i.e, Rhinos,Buffalo,Wilderbeest,Lions,Elephants,Giraffes,Zebras,'Besbos'(sorry if i got it wrong :3 )
Nyalas,WaterBucks and other animals who happen to be running around at the back of my head.
They offer a 3 hour safari twice a day(in full board) and 1 horse ride(depends how much you want to ride). They also have rereshments and some lovely places to stop and enjoy them.
I say,if the kruger is too far away and you dont have too many days( like me ),go ahead and experience luxury in the lap of nature!

P.S Will upload photos once I can :)

Room Tip: The manor has a trampoline( pretty good if you have half board and dont have other plans...keeps you...

Very unique experience in Bottlierskop. As is repeated, its not a Safari in the Kruger sense but the catwalk was possibly the most amazing thing I have ever done or likely to do. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

We spent two nights here on our honeymoon. The game drives are very enjoyable, seeing the Giraffes pop their heads up from the trees was excellent and we got very very close to the big cats on our drives.

Food very good and sitting on the veranda at night in front of a big fire with a nice glass of wine looking up at the stars is pretty romantic if you ask me!

We stayed in the Manor House which while not as unique as the tents was still very nice. We have Rhino's. Wildebeest and impala just outside our window. Truly memorable.

If I were to give some advise, its probably not advertised well enough on this side of the world. We did a loop on the Garden Route from Cape Town back to Cape Town and Botlierskop allowed us to have a very good Safari experience with no malaria, no bugs without having to go as far as Port Elizabeth or wherever so avoiding an internal flight to J'burg. Seems like there is an opportunity in there. We booked directly and it was perfect. Great place.

We really didn't want to go on a far flung safari, so this place was a good compromise. We headed up here as we found a nice map with a bunch of different places. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights in the forest, and won't forget the tranquil evenings by the fire.
