“The trip of a lifetime”

It is impossible to speak highly enough of Mount Camdeboo; everything about our stay there was pretty much perfect. We were made to feel so welcome by all the staff - I don't think we have ever been so well looked after! The food was incredible, the luxurious accommodation absolutely beautiful, and the scenery was breathtaking. Huge thanks must go to our ranger Byron, who looked after us so well on every game drive, was expert at spotting animals, however well-hidden, and extremely knowledgeable and informative - we loved the times spent out with him! This was a first safari for our children - and one we will all remember forever. Thank you all at Mount Camdeboo - a 5 star rating really isn't enough! I hope that one day, we will have the opportunity to return.

Our second visit to Camdeboo (other than for Jane visiting for the first time) having been in 2008. Only one regret that we could not have stayed longer. The care from all the staff could not have been better. It was good to see the conservation projects under way The food was great. Les the ranger could not have been more helpful particularly with my wife's disability.
We had some great sightings and I am looking forward to having a proper look at all our photos. Only one problem might prevent us visiting again and that is we get that bit older travel becomes harder.
But we have had two great memorable visits - thanks to everyone!

Visit after visit, Mount Camdeboo delivers the best of experiences. They never disappoint. After 8 nights one could tire of most most lodges, but not here. Camdeboo Manor remains as well-maintained and beautifully presented as when we first stayed there (2006?). The staff are so warm and sincere, and they attend to every need, often before you even know you have a need. In case you find your morning game drive with its coffee break on the veld a little taxing, there is a full massage awaiting you. The meals - always some generous combination of pre-outing coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, high tea, dinner - not to leave out sundowners out on the range - are always delicious and very thoughtfully served. Sleep is always deep in the romantic four-posters. But the main thing is how much you always learn from the very knowledgable Ranger-Guides out on the drives. Our most recent one, Les, could spot animals so camoulflaged, at such distances, we had to get within 20 feet to see what he did at 2 kilometers. His explanations of the animals' habits were so precise that often he had no sooner described a behavior than the animal did it! His ability to identify birds at the slightest movement was astonishing. His folklore stories of how the animal got his (colors, horns, calls...) always brought laughter. All in all, we entered a special world and it was very hard to leave. We recommend it to all who love nature and comfort!

Room Tip: All are equally good, but let them know if it's a honeymoon.

There's little I can add to the wonderful reviews Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve have already received. We were overwhelmed by the accommodation, the lovely people working there, the delicious food and the beautiful location. The game drive up the mountain was not only spectacular but fun and informative (thanks Les!) All the animals were in peak condition, not something we have seen everywhere and the whole experience will stay in our memories forever. It was a privilege to stand close to one of the cheetahs whilst he enjoyed his dinner, although he made it very clear he wasn't going to share it with us, we have some fantastic photos. Thank you to everyone, we will most definitely be back.

It is immediately apparent that this establishment is in good order - the lawn & driveway was meticulously attended to & the staff presented themselves in the same manner. The Manor House is spacious & gracious without being over done - the rooms & layout are very comfortable - service is unobtrusive but all the details are taken care of. Food was excellent & it was clear that the cook took great pride in outlining her menu & the presentation of the meals. The game was in abundance & the mountainous terrain provided spectacular views & appreciation of the vast Karoo. The rangers were engaging & clearly passionate about their environment - and hosting their guests. Richard & Daron are an inspiring management team.

We were lucky and privileged to be able to spend two nights at Mount Camdeboo en route down country. From the moment we parked the car we were spoiled by the amazing staff at Mount Camdeboo. They were attentive throughout the stay, offering us a refreshing face-cloth on arrival to washing our cars the evening before our departure while we were on a game drive. Attention to detail such as this was what we became use to while at Mount Camdeboo. The game drives into the African wild were out of this world, led by the most informative and knowledgable team one could wish for. From high-tea to dinners, game drives, a massage at the spa or an evening around the fire while being served top quality wine and food, If you dream of being spoiled to the max while sipping on a refreshing drink in the african wild this is the place to go. I will jump at the opportunity to go again! Thanks to the whole team for a break-taking experience - we left a few very relaxed souls.

We had a wonderfull three nights at Mount Camdeboo. This was our second such visit in two years. It was even better than the first visit, We have visited Singita on three occasions and as an experience Mount Camdeboo compares extremely favourably! The accomodation, attention to detail and personal service was out of this world. We would highly recommend Mount Camdeboo. It was a unique experience.....the blend of Karoo landscape and beautifull mountains topped with a breathtaking vista from the grassland plateau. Add to this a mini Rourkes Drift type battle that took place on Mount Camdeboo over 100 years ago.... is an added bonus!
