Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve
Certificate of Excellence

Where to start...From the breathtaking scenery to standing a meter away from a cheetah its a visual spectacular from start to finish. You find yourself strangely at home in the warm embrace of the traditional farm style manor houses that provide you enough separation to allow you to entertain the notions of being totally alone on your own farm. The service and food is immaculate and give you a real sense of the luxury of yesteryear, no detail is missed. In short the best way to describe it is a lifestyle estate with a game farm and you will find yourself falling into a simpler time where you have the opportunity to savor the finer things in life. This little Karoo Gem is not to be missed and is certainly worth a special trip from Cape Town!

My wife and I stayed in the manor house for 4 incredible days, we were treated to the best service with many small gestures such as a fire roaring in the lounge on our return from the morning game drive, useful facts on the area history on our pillows at night - not to mention the excellent quality of food and local wine served. On our first morning game drive we saw a mother and baby rhino of about 3 months old, giraffe, kudu, a black eagle, kingfisher bird and other buck. Our guide, Mathew was very helpful in explaining the balance they are working towards in the fragile ecosystem and other interesting facts about the areas wildlife.
We rested very well in their care and will definitely be back!
Thank you

A stay at the Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve is a truly unique relaxation experience. The team provide very hearty hospitality in a beautifully isolated setting. The homesteads are gorgeous and so stylishly done yet remain comfortable and welcoming. The honeymoon cottage is an absolute gem!! The service is outstanding. Alot of the staff are local karoo folk and one can taste the local flavours in the amazing spreads that are prepared daily. The 'gewone braai' is the best braai I have ever had with the warthog potjie being the deal breaker. Their contribution to conservation is admirable. The landscape is very diverse for the size of the property and it is well stocked with beautiful game. A walk and stalk of one of their cheetahs was an incredible wildlife experience!! I cannot recommend Mount Camdeboo more for a unique home from home experience that just so happens to be in the heart of the beautiful Karoo!!

Room Tip: All our beautiful but the honeymoon cottage is a real gem!!

Spectacular location, surrounded by mountains. Amazing sunsets.Enjoyed by all. Friendly service, staff knowledgable, excellent food and accomodation. A must for anyone wanting to escape the 'commercialised' game farms and have a truely unique experience. Game often frequented the nearby surrounds.

We will definitely be back.

Having travelled extensively and stayed in various lodges and hotels I can firmly say that Mnt Camdeboo has something unique and very special about it. The service from ranger to cleaner is extremely personal and the accommodation is just perfect for family, a group of friends or even a romantic getaway. The food was exceptional, enjoyed around a roaring boma fire in the evenings.

I would strongly recommend a Karoo experience at Camdeboo, you'll leave for home with a piece of your soul right back!

Me and a few friends spent a long weekend at Mount Camdeboo. We had a superb time and were so well looked after by Matthew and Jade, as well as the back of house staff who kept things running smoothly in the background.

The setting is beautiful, set in the valley with towering mountains surrounding you. We went on a number of game drives, where we saw baby elephant, cheetah, rhino, buck and vast bird life. Sipping Gin and tonics on top of the mountain, watching the sun set over the valley below was beautiful and peaceful.

The accommodation is top notch. Underfloor heating, heated towel rails, exquisite finishes! Dinner around the boma fire was great, ranging from lamb to venison, with ample salad, vegetables, breads, desserts and wine.

Staff were always on hand - from arranging game drives, turndown service, preparing and serving meals etc. they were knowledgable, attentive and passionate about wildlife and the area in general.

We left refreshed and ready to tackle work in the city!

Room Tip: The honeymoon room is romantic, spacey and well located close to the central manor house/reception.

Mount Camdeboo provides a truly a outstanding experience set in the spectacular beauty of the mountain ranges in the Eastern Cape. Our accommodations were well appointed with every detail attended to. The staff were lovely and warm serving healthy, elegant meals, including wonderful 'sun setters' out on safari and a wonderful dinner by the fire outside in the 'bauma'. Our ranger guides were knowledgeable and friendly and entertaining, making the early morning drives delightful. We stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage nested in the hillside with a lovely garden, a pool and a fully equipped kitchen with a comfortable living room with a fireplace. A relaxing place to read and rest and soak in the natural beauty all around. The game at Mount Camdeboo is amazing....from the beautiful giraffes to the cheetah, so much to see and marvel at. This beautiful game reserve is unforgettable and ranks among the finest of vacation experiences in the world. More than worth the travel from the United States and I would recommend it whole heartedly for a restful, romantic private getaway, a family destination or an adventure for friends or business associates.

Room Tip: Our cottage (The Hillside Cottage) was lovely.
