Denis Island is picture-postcard perfect. It’s a privately owned island. The Mason family who own it have got it spot-on. It’s one of the most beautiful outer islands.
The decor throughout is stunning. Mrs Mason has a fantastic eye for detail, it’s like you have stepped into the Conde Nast Traveller magazine. The furnishings & decor are stylish yet relaxed, chic yet comfortable, luxurious and rustic. It’s a look that is hard to pull off but Mrs M does it with aplomb ! Perfect barefoot luxury.I was incredibly lucky to stay in the pool villa. WOW. I cannot recommend this room highly enough although I did get to see other room types and they were all very beautiful. My pool was a good size and just steps from the most amazing beach. All of the rooms at Denis have outside bathrooms with large bath, rainfall shower and small enclosed garden. Each room comes complete with a rechargeable torch; when the sun sets it’s dark – very dark. You will see the most incredible stars. My villa was the furthest from the reception and restaurant but I could easily walk it in around 7 minutes. There are golf buggies available if you prefer not to walk.
This is an all-inclusive island with an excellent choice of wines, none of your house wine here ! Evening entertainment is low-key & relaxed. The food was divine and of an incredibly high standard. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all superb. There is no spa however the spa staff will come out to your cottage or villa for treatments. Snorkelling was excellent with crystal clear waters. I didn’t see any Turtles but am told they are often around. The island has many tortoises including 1 that is over 150 years old. You can walk around the whole island in under two hours, they even have their own farm – almost all of the food that you eat here is from the farm. The fish are caught just a few miles away. This has got to be one of the most romantic places to visit. Denis is an incredibly special place that will capture your heart – it certainly has mine

We stayed one week in this lovely hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice, big and confortable. It was very clean! The hotel has such amazing attention to detail.
The nature of the Island is beautiful!!!! There are many unique and rare birds to be seen!
The restaurant was excellent! Very nice breakfast! Dinner on the beach was Amazing!
You can watch the sunset at the beach! Wonderful!
It's an all-inclusive resort, no Internet, no tv in the bedroom. You can find tv and Internet in the public lounge.
The island has good activities - cycling, tennis, snorkelling, diving.
The stuff is very helpful and charming. Great experience!

I now understand why this island has huge repeat guests, oh my days its fabulous! Beautiful rooms, we upgraded to a spa cottage and had to have a treatment in our garden. The day bed was just a treat.
The island itself encourages the inner child, go out play, explore, cycle and just come back when hungry...leave the diet at home though as the food is pretty amazing. The Japanese buffet was sushi-tastic!
Staff were so accommodating, friendly, helpful and the setting really is paradise. Be at one with nature, embrace the no mobile phones, tv and enjoy!

We just returned from a very exciting and relaxing stay on Denis Private Island. It was a perfect place to get first experiences on scuba diving in the sea. There are many beautiful corals, a lot of fish, also some sharks and huge stingrays and of course turtles.
The Denis Island staff including local Management was very friendly and always helpful.
We enjoyed the excellent meals in beautiful landscape.

Room Tip: We had a Spa Beach Cottage and it was very nice and comfortable.

Denis Island is a unique experience! We recently went there on our honeymoon and were very impressed with the food, setting and overall experience. The Japanese chef was fantastic and we loved the Japanese food night while we were there. Honestly all our meals were great. We went scuba diving and saw sea turtles, eagle rays and reef sharks! The dive center was great and the dive site is literally 5 minutes off shore- just amazing.

-One thing I would say it was really annoying that after each meal or drink at the bar, we had to sign a bill with a $0 balance. It's an all-inclusive resort so why make people on vacation sign bills? Just seems really administrative while we were on our honeymoon and trying to relax. They said this was for their internal audit procedures and to make sure the staff didn't drink - but why make your guests who are on vacation and want to disconnect from everything sign a bill 3+ times a day? We went to other all inclusive resorts during our stay in the Seychelles and they didn't do that.

-There was no safe in the room and no way to lock your room. Just odd given the amount of money it costs to stay here.

-The paths could be better labeled and each villa should have 2 bikes so you have them at your disposal at all times. We went on a walk on the beach around the island and honestly we should have brought our shoes because we could have seriously cut up our feet on the rocks. No one had advised us about this and we even asked them for a map before heading out. Also, there is a part that it would make more sense to walk inland a bit vs on the rocks in the water but there is no labeled path and a sketchy looking half-built structure in the distance so we didn't feel comfortable walking through the dense trees and opted for the painful rocks. Seems like this would be an easy thing to do and make exploring the island easier. As a side note, Desroches Island Resort does this really well.

-The rooms do not have any items in the mini-fridge. I understand premium alcohol is not part of the package, but stocking it with local beers and spirits and juice (all of which are part of the package) would make the time spent in your villa much more pleasant. While you can get what you want at the bar, they charge you for bringing it to the room. Why not ask guests what they would like from the package to be included in their mini-bar?

-The gift shop could be organized better. First of all, it's always locked unless you ask them to open it. Why can't the reception manage this (like at Desroches) so it's inviting and accessible? We wanted to buy a polo shirt with the island logo and they only had XXS...

-The breakfast area doesn't have enough fans and gets so hot and humid- they should install more ceiling fans.

-All around the bar and restaurant, there are giant hedges so you can hardly see the ocean which is literally RIGHT there. I feel they could create more of a beachy/relaxing atmosphere by reducing the hedges and making you feel like you're right on the beach. Better yet, offer lunch and dinner on the beach...other resorts do this so well and it's a shame Denis doesn't.

All in all, we had a great stay at Denis. It's unique to be staying on a private island and we loved the secluded, relaxing time we spent there. I think there could be some improvements made to make the $ more justifiable.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Everything was fantastic the island, the accommodation, the food and the staff. I loved that there was no phone reception, no Internet, no tv's and no shoes! just sun, sea, nature and luxurious accommodation. We only did 2 nights but could of done one more night really but 2 is better than nothing. My husband loved the snorkeling. I felt sad to leave.

Your stay starts with a 30 minute flight from Mahe, the view was beautiful and the landing on a grass runway was an experience!
They staff meet you at the runway on a golf buggy and drive you the short distance to the reception area. There is one building on Denis that houses the restaurant, bar, seating areas and it overlooks the pool. It is very quiet and peaceful. They welcomed us with a drink and canapes then took us to our rooms. wow!
The villa I had (number 6 - bone fish) was spectacular! I had a private garden which overlooked the beach & ocean and the villa itself was huge. The bathroom is the highlight, its half indoor half outdoor with a gorgeous stand alone tub and an outdoor shower.
The sea was lovely to swim in and there is a reef on the other side of the island for snorkelling.
The food was out of this world and the service top notch. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone you met would greet you with good morning/evening and a smile.
The swimming pool at first I thought was small but there was never anyone in it, I guess with the ocean so clear and blue everyone was enjoying that instead!
You can watch the sunset at the beach by this pool, it was beautiful.
They have bikes on the island which you can use to get around, there are many private areas if you fancy a robinson crusoe style picnic. It felt like we were the only people there!
We also took a guided tour of the island and saw the gardens where they grow fruits and veg.

There are no tvs, wifi or phone reception on the island although they do have a small room that houses a computer should you need internet access. Also there are no room keys although you can lock the doors from the inside.
I couldn't recommend this enough, it is just a dream destination & experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are spectacular, I had number 6
