If you’re going to Gisenyi for a few days and looking to relax in a beautiful and peaceful environment we recommend the Inzu Lodge. It’s about 7 km out of town (you need to take a taxi or moto-taxi if you don’t have your own transportation) and it offers great value accommodation (20 000 frw or 35USD for a safari tent for 2 people). Although it doesn’t have direct access to the lake, it has a stunning view and a lovely terrace where you can lounge around.
We were travelling as a family and stayed at the Inzu Lodge for 3 nights. The on-site restaurant was great and served a variety of food including western, Rwandan and regional fare. We loved the local fried fish and we recommend the roasted goat (must be preordered). There were a few mixups in our orders but the food was always delicious.
There are beautiful touches everywhere and it is evident that the owner takes pride in her establishment. To boot, the washrooms and showers were cleanest we saw during our 3 week stay in Rwanda!More
