We came down from our safari in the Mara, not knowing what to expect. We'd obviously researched through the internet, but nothing prepares one for the heavenly view that befalls one from the terrace of the treehouse - there's the Indian Ocean lapping up the beach, just metres away. And the lush vegetation, the sweet bird song, the exceptional service all add up to paradise.

We were pretty anti-social, and ate all our evening meals on our terrace. We took breakfast and lunch under the vast boma. There were other guests but no-one expects to socialise as we were all like-minded.

We spent 5 days here, and our thanks to Doris, Charles, William, Joshua and Rosie for making us feel as though we were part of their community. Not forgetting Boris and Seth for their friendliness and warmth.

If you are looking for privacy, good food, wonderful service and barefoot luxury, you've found it, but don't blame me if you can't get in; The Cove Retreat is a gem!

Room Tip: We had Tree House 1 and had absolutely no complaints

We stayed here in Aug 10 and after a week on safari it was the perfect way to recuperate! We specifally asked for treehouse 1 and were given it, as it's right on the beach, and also next to the pool so you can see when its empty etc. there are 6 treehouse but only 3 or 4 were in use when we were there, so its lovely and quite. Great service from the butlers, all very friendly and genuine. The treehouse has an amazing bed which needs steps to get onto, and the sun waking u up at 6am is just beautiful. Food was surprisingly lovely, i thought with so few guests they wouldnt make the effort but everything was cooked to order, and gorgeous! the sea food is freshly caught! if we could afford it we would holiday there all the time, it feels like you are on a private island! It really made our honeymoon out of this world!

Booked with www.escapesworldwide.co.uk with Mark, who i have used several times and in a word-Fantastic, i agree entirely with the below comments, we stayed for 5 days in treehouse 3 after a fun packed Safari, this was so relaxing and what we wanted. The days consisted of a good breakfast, followed by a good read on the swinging bed, the chef then pop in to see what you want for lunch, what time and where, we had several meals on our balcony watching the ocean, amasing!.Special thanks to Philip, William, Joshua and the list goes on, the place is basic but somehow consume you to do nothing and RELAX with a high quality feel!

We've just returned from a week at the Cove Retreat. It was fabulous- after a week on Safari and a long trip from the Maasi Mara we arrived really late and were met by staff, who had waited for us to prepare a meal.
The rooms are lovely- we had treehouse 2 which looked straight out to sea- it's only a few steps to the beach. We loveld the places to relax - as well as the pool there was a fabulous sofa area on the balcony, then a swinging bed under the tree house for when the sun got too much.
The service was excellent - William, Charles and Philip took care of our every need with a quiet understated manner. They quickly learned what you liked and even on one occasion, pointed out that the one of the meals ordered had pineapple in, as they had remembered that I had asked for no pineapple in my fruit platter that morning.
As well as these guys, all staff there made the stay special - Alphonse cleaned and looked our room, and added flowers regularly, nixon prepared the Jacuzzi splendidly (this involves a whole day of burning wood to heat water!) and the chefs did a fantastic job despite me being a fussy vegetarian!
Spend some time getting to know the local people on the beach. This is so remote there are no 'beach boys' to hassle you, but Boris, Seif and Bacari run trips and are alround good guys - we went fishing and snorkelling with them on their traditional boats which was a great experience.
The beach is not really suitable for swimming as it is an old coral bed, but you can walk around the cove at low tide to another area where you can swim. However, we had some excellent walks around at low tide, looking in rock pools and collecting spectacular shells.

The cove is a beautiful, relaxing, rustic retreat. Its like your own desert island. We stayed for one week after a busy week on safari. Our treehouse (no.3) had a beautiful view and was fully equiped. Every morning we woke to the sounds of waves lapping at the beach below. The food was lovely and the mini bar was always stacked full of drinks. The staff were all very attentive (special mention to Charles, William and Phillip for their great cocktails) and nothing was too much trouble. Unlike the Diani beach resorts you will not be bothered by beach sellers. There are the local villagers who can organise local trips if you would like them to. We went fishing and to the local school, both great excusions.

We would love to revisit the cove in the future. Its just such a perfect place.

Just returned from The Cove Luxury Tree Houses. After a week of Safaris and a long journey to get there you could not find a more relaxing place to stay. The staff could not do enough for us especially Charles and Phillip. The food the chefs prepared was all very good (samosas very good). Rooms very clean thanks to Rosie. The pool was very clean when we went and the sea is shallow and sheltered by the reef. Had a couple of trips with Boris and the boys on the beach and enjoyed getting to know the locals.
If you want a rest with peace and quiet you could do a lot worse than The Cove.

We stayed at The Cove in October 2009 for our honeymoon and although we enjoyed our stay it was not quite what we had expected!
The view from our tree house (no2) was amazing and the house itself is outstanding.
I was disappointed by the food choice, they had a great menu but the problem was lots of the meals were not available as there had been no delivery from management. Drinks and ice-cream also ran out! The Jacuzzi is a nice touch but be warned you do need to order this in a morning for that evening use.
The Swimming pool was often dirty hence I hardly used it; beside crabs which obviously can’t be helped coming from the sea, it had nasty green algae on the sides and bottom. The staff were overall very good and did what they could with what they had we found Doris to be exceptionally helpful.
However, we would not re-visit the cove.
