We arrived in this hotel after a 3 days safari and from Reception, the welcome was great. Our room was very comfortable. We stayed for 11 nights.

If you were to dream about what a holiday should be,Amani should be it.It is a well thought out property. We found the food was great and we had more than we thought we can choose from. The all day all inclusive menu was snacky, the buffet was waiting at the main restaurant as well and every evening was different, with dining venues changed from the main restaurant to poolside, beach & Italian restaurant. The breakfasts at Amani were fresh, varied and tasty and terrific fresh fruits & juices.

The animation team worked tirelessly to keep everybody entertained. We sat every evening to watch the animation team entertain-really engaging J We heard from other guests who had stayed for a month already that the entertainment had quickly improved day by day compared to their first few days of their stay. They said the same with the food.

The beach you will die for. Totally tranquil and shaded by palm trees with hammocks dotted. We had many lazy days here. No beach boys harassing you. Even when you go down to the waters, they will say hi and will not insist on anything.

Compared to Baobab Beach Resort where we have stayed 4 times before, this resort though newly opened, the services are exceptionally worth every penny. The staff look happy and seem to like their work and cannot do enough. All out to make sure you enjoy.

It was so wonderful, we've already made reservations to go back next January, and will stay longer, and that’s for sure!!

Room Tip: Book a deluxe room. It is spacious and very comfortable and near restaurant, bar and beach.

We had hesitated to come here from North Coast-Bamburi Beach as we had heard issues about food.
This property is amazing in every way and we certainly hope to return. We had a great room overlooking the pool. Sleeping to the sound of crashing breeze was hypnotic. The pool is incredible.
The expansive beautiful grounds, the pool and the impeccable service. And it is all true. But I have to stress that food, beach & staff were for us what will take us back there.

Definitely treat yourself to ocean activities. All the guides at the Baracuda watersports (the ocean activities center on premises) are wonderful with great attitudes, warm smiles and a wealth of knowledge about the water and the area. Staff spoke with us about the history of Kenya and the region at length and really sparked a deeper appreciation of the area for us.It's information & interaction that make this place not just a enjoyable vacation beach resort but a really special place.

And of course who can ignore the food! The themed nights were so good! The food quality level was consistently high. And if it's not on the Buffet or menu , well, they will probably make it for you.
One night we were at the Baharini Swahili restaurant and didn't want to leave, we were so comfortable and having so much fun, What a doll! Delicious food! I wish I could remember the name of our server that night too. All staff are wonderful but he was particularly great.

Our room was spacious & immaculately kept clean. Had Air con, safe,TV, mini fridge, hairdryer etc. We had no single issue in our room.

There are so many many details I could gush over but I will leave at, it is a place that pampers and coddles you. Just don’t allow anything minor come in between your enjoyment of all the beauties of the Amani world.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floor for panoramic view of the pool.

Lovely hotel although only 40% full due to some political stuff putting people off so the hotel was fairly quiet with little atmosphere in the evenings. Staff so friendly, food very tasty although buffet style usually only luke warm. I was led to believe that the a'la carte restuarants were part of all inclusive but they were not so nobody used them. Rooms lovely and facilites good too. Only criticism is that although nightly entertainment, it was outside away from the bar so not well attended. Beach perfect and sea warm.
The beach boys are trustworthy and can help you with safaris etc. 'Prince' takes you snorkelling along the beach and points all the fish out for a few shillings. Obviously you get hassled along the beach to buy trinkets but this small income is their livelyhood so its worth remembering how much it means to them.
All in all had a fantastic week. Weather very hot with strong breeze which kept things cool, sun didnt appear til after lunch though.

We arrived here on the second day of our holiday,we were originally booked in to another hotel in kiliffi but it was awful we could not stay there. so we got to the Amani tired hot and thirsty after a 3 hr drive in a taxi , We were greeted with a hot flannel, cold drink, and a wonderful " welcome home"We were taken to our room which was a standard room ,(it was nothing like standard )it was spacious, clean bright and cool.bed were the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in.fresh white bed linen nice fluffy pillows. air con was very quite. bathroom clean but a little on small size Tea & coffee facilities. safe in room Free of charge ,fridge in room, fresh bottles of water every day.Your beds have mosie nets that are put down every evening and your room is sprayed so no mosies .the pool all 167 meters of it was well looked after by pool boys, when we commented on how clean it was to them they were so pleased. They also looked after us. every where you went you were met with a smile and Jambo, staff are so helpful nothing is too much trouble, They are all so proud of their hotel .Food the main restaurant did a fair selection at all meals , however my hubby found it a little too spicy, we mentioned it to a waiter, and out comes the head chef from the very next day, we had a selection of less spicy foods on offer . the snack bars are good ,Tea and cake in the afternoon is worth a try.All the staff from the gardener to the manger wanted you to have the best holiday you could. Mercy the Thompson rep was brilliant she looks after you, as if, you are her family . We really did not want to come home, We would go back tomorrow if we could. IF you want a fantastic holiday, where you matter. then this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: we had third floor room in block 5 because i worry about creepy crawlies and it was great

Just returned from 2 weeks at this resort and could not speak more highly of the resort, it's staff and the hotel. Yes it is a little remote for some but for an amazing holiday to be looked after by amazing people then this is THE place. The resort is clean from top to bottom and the staff cannot do enough to make your stay more welcoming. From the cooks, cleaners, reception staff, gardeners, pool attendants, security, waiting staff and animation team they all go out of their way to help you enjoy what is one of the best resorts I have stayed in. I could write an endless list of names of people who stand out but in all honesty they ALL do. The Thomson rep Merci is one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever had the privilege of meeting and it's almost as though her whole life revolves around making everyone feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble.
The food was varied and cooked to a high standard and in great surroundings and even served in different areas of the hotel which not only works well it really adds to the atmosphere. One of the biggest assets of this resort is the staff in particular the animation team who will spend hours going round the hotel and talking to everyone, Kasha, Eva, Zeinab, Ruwa, Martin, Nicholas, Matarno plus the rest of them they are an absolute credit to this hotel. The rooms are fantastic and spotless with personal touches added (thank you Ibrahim). The pool areas are well maintained and cleaned and the pool attendants are just brilliant. The beach is just as good and yes there are a few sellers about but i found if you stressed you weren't interested then they left you alone. There is one man on the beach called Prince...if you want escorting anywhere he is your man....and his local knowledge is just fascinating. There is a permanent but very low key security presence around the hotel and the security staff are amazing. All in all the resort and the staff was the best I have experienced and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

As previous travellers have said, we were originally booked to go to the Voyager Beach but Thomsons pulled out and booked us into the Amani tiwi. We had no choice apart from a refund so we agreed with some reservation. There were no current reviews as it had only been opened again recently after a full refurbishment after a fire so we didn't know what to expect.
We needn't have worried as it far exceeded our expectations. The hotel is immaculate and there is always someone cleaning. There was a good choice of food but a lot had an Indian influence which was very tasty. There were always other dishes to choose from which were not so spicy.
Plenty of choice for desserts and the fresh fruit at every meal time was amazing. The pool was brilliant and the pool boys do an excellent job in keeping it clean considering its size. The staff are always willing to help or advise on anything and seem to really love their jobs. They are certainly proud of the hotel. There are a few minor issues with it just opening but give it 6 months and I believe it will be excellent.
There is a need for more parasols around the pool area but plenty of sun beds. We chose to go to beach most days as we had shade from the palm trees and there was more wind to keep you cool. There are swinging beds dotted along the beach as well as sun beds and they were a nice idea. Sadly we didn't go in the sea much as there is a lot of seaweed and rocks so you had to be careful and definitely needed water shoes.
The hotel was only 50% occupied so they may struggle to provide the same service if it was full. If you are planning on doing a safari whilst there we found it better to book an independent safari rather than booking through Thomsons because then you did not have too pack everything up and move out of your room. We booked before we went through JT Safaris after reading all the reviews and we couldn't have done better. We had a private safari just for the 2 of us in a jeep so we had loads of room and a brilliant driver called Mataus. Don't hesitate about booking with this company as I can assure you they are very professional and really want to please. Just make sure you book with the true JT Safaris as there is another company pretending they are them. All in all we had a truly amazing first trip to Kenya and thanks to everyone to helped make it near perfect.

Room Tip: We booked a deluxe room and were near the pool and restaurant and it was brilliant. Very large with...

Have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Amani Tiwi and had a very positive experience on the whole. As the hotel has only been fully operational for about three months there are still one or two teething problems but these are only minor issues which I will mention later.

The hotel has been extensively refurbished and when comparing it to its neighbours across the river ( Indian Ocean Beach Club / Southern Palms /Diani Reef and Leisure Lodge ) there is no comparison physically.

The hotel reminds me very much of the Travellers Beach Club in Bamburi. The rooms are identical layout and the sweeping , interlinking pools very similar. The grounds are immaculate , newly planted and will take a few years to mature. Subsequently there is not a lot of shade. You will need to grab one of the dozen or so umbrellas on offer. Sunbeds are dotted about the resort and there was never a problem getting one but the hotel was only about 50% full.

The food was generally good with a reasonable choice although it could have been a bit warmer at times.
A bit too much spicy food without alternative considering 90% of guests were from Europe . I saw chips served twice in a fortnight. If you have children with you they may struggle with the food. Desserts were excellent. The dining room is just lacking a bit of ambiance which could easily be rectified. The amazing staff transport the dining room to different parts of the hotel ( including the beach )several times a week for evening meal which is a really good idea

The hotel is fairly remote. The hotel runs a bus to Diani daily but charges 1000 schilling return which we were not prepared to pay as there were seven of us. ( We hired a mini bus instead for 4000k/s!!!) Apparently this used to be a free shuttle that the hotel operated. I think the hotel are missing a trick here..offer free trips to Diani to hotel guests then they are not in the hotel eating and drinking - thus saves the hotel money!
The alternative to the bus is to walk along the beach 600m south and paddle across the Congo river at low tide .This will bring you to the Indian Ocean Hotel where you can get a lift along the beach road from pretty much anyone with a set of wheels ( we flaggged down Bob Marleys brother in his battered yellow pick up for a few hundred k/s...all part of the fun. There are loads of hotels and bars and shops along this 3 mile stretch of road.

The beach is nice, albeit very windy. Take note, swimming in the ocean is quite a feat due to the massive amount of rock and coral ...you definately need sea shoes.
Beach boys don't bother you until you approach the water and there are only a handfull here anyway ,unlike the mayhem of Bamburi beach lol

The hotel has a brand new gym with some good machines, all free and working. Several little shops that are not expensive. Hotel exchanging pound at 128 when we were there.

Drinks for AI are above average. Have the Alsops lager if can and try the Madafu spirit...bright green and looks like creme de menthe but tastes like malibu. Nothing watered down like in some places. The hotel stopped the 'sign for everything' practice midway through our stay. For what reason I don't know, but I'm not sure what it achieved in the first place anyway.
Wi fi free throughout which was nice as was the free room safe and fridge.

A few little issues like leaking air con and room service we never ordered were sorted out after a couple of phone calls

As virtually every previous review has mentioned it is the fantastic staff that make this hotel what it is. We met some true legends who are so proud of what they do and without fail, everyone we spoke to said the hotel treats them well which is refreshing to hear.
Amongst the dozens of staff we met Nichols,Grace,Moses,Humphrey,Hassan,Kevin,Zainab,Jacob, Kennedy(our waiter),Ruer,Omar, Matano, you are all first class and a credit to the hotel.

The return to Moi airport was a complete shambles. The security is frighteningly poor. The check in desk staff charged us 3800k/s for exit fee after the rep told us on the bus an hour earlier that it was 3600k/s ! And then to top it off the airport want ed to charge us 350k/s each to have a cigarette once through to departures.

We have visited Kenya many times but are starting to get a little disillusioned by the apparent need to try to exploit the tourists , which after all is one of the country`s main sources of income. It is getting progressively more expensive to visit and Kenya tourism must be asking itself why all of the hotels i have mentioned in this review are running at between 30 to 50% occupancy in what is supposed to be high season. A SHAME AS KENYA IS A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, with amazing people.
