“Indian Jewel”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

This is a jewel! Fantastic restaurant with great meals. There is something for everyone. Meals can be ordered as hot as you like and you will be surprised at the sizes of the portions. Service is good (although sometimes a bit slow - especially the bar) and a meal here is a must when you visit Diani!

“Indian food can be better”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

.. especially when you don't put this much salt in everything, as they did for us when we visited Shan e Punjab for diner.
We were the only visitors, but it took a long time until the dishes reached our table. A grumpy waiter finally brought the starters: The garlic naan and the provided variety of dips were a nice beginning, but from there it only went south.
The curries are too spicy (not hot, just badly seasoned) and salty; it's not possible to find out whether you eat mutton or chicken.
If you're staying at the south cost visit the Singh restaurant in Mombasa, which offers a higher level of Indian cuisine to the same price as Shan E Punjab...

“Tasty Indian food!”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

Shan e Punjab was a pleasant surprise!
The food was excellent and having ordered quite a variety since we had a large group, there was good debate as to which was the best dish...always a healthy debate and a good sign for a restaurant.
The veg and non-veg options were well presented in these most unique pots with real charcoal pieces below to keep the food warm, and the taste was commendable.
Service was on par to the food and Shan e Punjab is a restaurant I will certainly go back to and I highly recommend!

“Best Indian food at Diani”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Shan e Punjab is by far the best Indian restaurant around Diani coast I have been to. They have the most authentic Indian curries and tandoor dishes and made with locally available fresh ingredients. The owner couple are always welcoming and always taking care of your needs. Food is served in traditional earthen pot over charcoal fire so that it stays hot throughout your meal experience. Very innovative thinking I must say. If you are at Diani and looking for a place to eat good food..........Shan e Punjab is the place for you!!!
