We came upon this restaurant when we went with a local to the Western Union Office at Ukunda Junction and 'poppped 'in for a cool drinK and were so amazed at the amount of locals and ex pats visiting this restaurant that we stayed on for lunch and it wasexcellent typical HOME MADE KENYAN food.

Chicken served in a huge casserole with rice or ugali or seafood platters omelletes and chips if only for a snack - plenty starters and desserts at reasonable prices.

We now visit regularly and good to see the hustle and bustle outside and the sellers come in trying to sell their wares.

We always take a local friend as this tends to keep them away from us.

However managed to obtain a CD with a song I liked by Bob Marley Two Little Birds when we first visited the carribbean and was cheap at 100khs and it works.

Had it at home but gave the guy the cash to help out.

Staff are friendly and service quick and efficient.

Drinks are far cheaper than the hotel - soda 70 khs and beer (bottle) 120 khs.

Also has a large flat screen tv which of course when the football is on gets packed out.

Clean and toilets locked so only people eating or drinking can use and kept clean.

WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK SOON.

Asante Sana

Not the most sumptuous of settings, but the food was good (we had goat) and it was great value for money.

I visitied here in Decmeber 2010 whilst staying at Leopard Beach a few plots down the road. My Kenyan girlfriend had recommended it as she used to live in Coral Beach apartments which share the site, so I went along and arranged to meet an old friend of hers who still lives there.

I ordered what my other half says is the Kenyan staple - Nyama Choma (grilled/barbequed meat), Goat in this case. Ugali - think of a stiff maize meal "porridge", but more like semolina. With an accompanyment of Kachumbari - mixed salad. Sorry - but I can't remember what else was on the menu, but it had a good selection.

It's not quite as good as the home cooked food my other half makes, but it was was of the few places in Kenya that I fould that did it. Unfortunately most places cater too much for us Europeans :-( If I went again I'd ask them to put soem chilli in the Kachumbari (maybe they left it out for the Mizungu, LOL). The goat was great and the ugali spot on (I can never be bothered to cook it as it takes a lot of effort stirring!).

The location was great its got that indoor / outdoor coastal feel - leaves for the roof, with open sides. Not by the beach though, but in a garden setting. The service was good - smiley, and they bring a bowl of lemon water for you to wash your hands before eating. Prices were good too - only a few pounds and much cheaper than the hotel prices.

PS Not sure if the weblink and phone is their official site - but the only one I could find.
